Yesterday, it was an old Seinfeld reference. Today, it's a rerun of the onion ring gag, which was from The Simpson's. It's been a good joke. I hope they tell it again.
Tommy doesn't really want to marry Brandy, he's just polishing his sales talk skills for that application video to SRCC. Wear 'em down is lesson No. 1 and he's going to prove he's on it! Extra points for addressing your marks confidently with "Babe" and other such skeevy, overly familiar endearments.
I'm going with Brandy can't marry Tommy and move into Iris's condo with him because she's Mary's and Mr. Alora's love child and.... I don't know; that's all I've got.
Chester the Dog, you are right that they seem to eat out every day, which would be a drain on any budget. On the other hand, I think the grocery store where they work--Francie's or whatever it is called--may be a union shop, in which case they could each be making a living wage, and, of course, California's minimum wage is $13. I realize that that is nowhere near enough to enter the pricey Santa Royale housing market without some serious outside help--maybe from Iris or Zack or someone.
I suspect Tommy doesn't have to pay rent (he lives in his mother's condo), which might help with the money situation. He might be dealing something on the side too.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
Turns out Brandy's already married to somebody else.

ReplyDeleteAnd I think we have another Panel of the Year contender!
I can picture the fry cook as he was making up the onion rings. "With this ring, I thee bread."
You're right, Wanders. These jokes just get funnier every time we hear them.

ReplyDeleteTommy, I have to tell you something.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it , Babe?
I’m Randy.
Hey, so am I, Babe!
No, I am Randy, not Brandy.
Well, nobody’s perfect.
At least Tommy's not WORKING at the diner where the onion rings are made. Other than that, he shares MANY qualities with Homer Simpson.
ReplyDeleteI was going to write this:
ReplyDeleteBrandy: I’m already married, to my previous boss, Jerry. I worked at his sandwich shop before I started at Freda’s
but there’s no way I can top @meg’s post!

On Sunday we get peevish. Brandy, trust your gut on this one and order fries next time.
ReplyDelete"Take this onion ring and say you'll be mine." H, those are the words that every young girl dreams of hearing some day
ReplyDeleteBrandy means she liked things they way they were — get used to using the past tense, Brandy.
ReplyDeleteYep, trying to bully a lady into marrying you right in a public place is the best way to show her that you have no abusive tendencies at all.
ReplyDeleteBrandy comes off as being a bit simple, but at least she knows not to marry Tommy.
Take the onion ring, Brandy. But don't marry him. Just eat it An onion ring is always worth eating.
ReplyDeleteHow much money do these two spend on eating out? The cant male more than min. wage.
