Ladies and gentlemen, happy holidays! The Condo Board is pleased to announce this year's Worthy Award nominees, and we are excited to invite you once again to vote for your favorites.
Yes, you the Citizens of Santa Royale will determine who will take home the most coveted prize in the World of Entertainment. Winners will be announced on December 31st.
Below is our slate of categories and nominees. After reviewing each category, please use the survey tool to select the nominee you feel is most deserving. You may vote as often as you feel they deserve.
It's been said, "Avoid popularity; it has many snares, and no real benefit." While the Mary Worth comic strip zealously adheres to this maxim, it is pure poppycock. Popularity is awesome, and this annual event is the ultimate popularity contest for those of us who live, work and dream in Santa Royale, California. Vote as if your life depended on it. And if you really want to make your vote count, you can bribe the judges here!
OUTSTANDING FLOATING HEAD
There are only two contenders in this year's floating head competition. While each nominee offered a memorable performance, we feel the need to speak out against the lack of representation for floating heads. We beseech Karen Moy and June Brigman not to overlook the important contribution floating heads make to the Worthiverse. More floating heads in 2021!
OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY AN INCONSEQUENTIAL CHARACTER
Thank you for the Christmas present, Wanders. I opened it first! And a very Merry Christmas to all the Worthiverse, with sincere hopes for a better holiday season next year!
ReplyDeleteI second the remarks of @fauxprof, both regarding this splendid gift from Wanders, the Founder of the Feast, and the heartfelt wishes to all of my MW & Me friends. Let us all continue to be hopeful, particularly when our patience is tested.
ReplyDeleteI like to think that the sentiment on thar oven mitt is what Mary says to Toby when no one else is within earshot. That's when the real Mary emetges.
Thanks, Wanders! Boffo titles for the candidates. Merry Christmas, etc., to you and family, and to all my brilliant pals here. Nobody could blame you for trying to pad the list of Story of the Year nominees. Sometimes it seems like there's only ever been one story, and it's written on a mobius strip.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family, Wanders! Many thanks for the Christmas gift and for all you do throughout the year!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas all 🎄
ReplyDeleteMy favorite panel of 2020 (Madi's eye roll) was there - but not included in the favorite panel category. Still was happy to see it nominate in whatever cateogy is was
Wanders, thanks for the gorgeous buffet of Christmas goodness — all neatly pressed into bite-size squares! Mary would approve, and Mary’s approval is all any of us crave.
ReplyDeleteWanders! Best oven mitt ever!!
ReplyDeleteI can just hear Mrs. Wanders on Christmas morning:
ReplyDelete"Oh, for crying out loud, Wes, an oven mitt again this year?"
Happy Christmas to all!
HelenClark
I feel like that oven mitt is not Family Friendly.
ReplyDeleteI love it.
Today, I'm spending the day stuffing the ballot box for Banana Bread--Dessert Of Champions.
Thank you, Wanders! Even during a sucky year, you help us enjoy the absurdity that is Mary Worth.
ReplyDeletePanel of the Year was tough this year. Onion rings vs. dog licks. How to choose between the ridiculousness?

Maybe there ought to be a Clio Award for the Best Animal next year...Libby, random alley cats on the Bad Side of Santa Royale, Greta, Max the new dog at Charterstone, Jared's Star Wars action figures...
ReplyDelete@JS: that dog lick was pure ART, suitable for any museum!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, Wanders! Now I'll have to go on reading Mary Worth!
ReplyDeleteNew Year's greetings
