"I've been trying to impress you by stacking bottles in the shape of a Christmas tree, singing Simon and Garfunkle songs, feeling sorry for myself, and eating banana bread with Mary Worth. What have you been up to lately?"
Apparently whoever built the "boardwalk" in Santa Royale isn't concerned about climate change. I give it three years (or less) before the whole thing is under water. Plus, why bother with a boardwalk when the ocean is so close unless Santa Royale was going for making the beach more accessible to someone who uses a wheelchair, a laudable notion, but who believes that? It's more like this "boardwalk" was easier to draw, and maybe JB hasn't seen many boardwalks. This one is the most minimal one available. It's made of boards, and people are walking on it. OK, I'm done with this obsession.
I see y'all are also looking askance at that so-called boardwalk, which doesn't look any more like a boardwalk than it did the last time we saw it. I was just going to suggest that Tommy could make some more money by putting in a bid to finish the construction, as the original builders seem to have just left off in the middle of nowhere, perhaps too mesmerized by the spectacular Santa Royale skyline to continue.
Well, as there have been references to Goleta in the strip, I've always assumed that Santa Royale was Santa Barbara. Which, because of a city ordinance, does not have any tall buildings. Maybe we should let Ms. Brigman know.
And yeah, Louise and Yahoonski, Santa Barbara does have a real boardwalk, although it has burned down twice. Didn't we have some couple get mugged on it some time ago? I'm too lazy to look that up. Maybe we should let June know about that too.
Hey Everyone! I'm listening to the radio and a caller is describing how he got scammed out of his savings from a Match.Com interest. Estelle anyone? Art imitates life or vise versa?!
THURS: Wait a minute. Yesterday the city skyline was to the south of them, today to the north. Is the city of Santa Barbara Royale so huge it wraps around a spacious bay?
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
Brandy: You know, Tommy, the absurdity of that statement just made me remember why I dumped you. Say "Hi" to Vin for me.

ReplyDeleteBabe has been talking to him like they haven't seen each other in years. Sheesh.
Is that supposed to be Santa Royale in the background? I've always had the sense that S.R. is a medium-sized town like maybe Modesto or Canton, Ohio.

It’s so helpful that Tommy reminded Brandy that he works at Freda’s. It might have slipped her mind.
ReplyDeleteTommy, Vin may have some suggestions about ways to earn more money.

My work has gotten so busy I can't read or post until evening. :(.
ReplyDeleteFor an interesting romance story, I'm enjoying https://www.comicskingdom.com/apartment-3-G_1

ReplyDeleteThe city is back on the left today, with some clear recycling. This is one of those weeks where scrambling the 10 panels wouldn't change anything.
ReplyDeleteAnd so we have come full circle, nothing has changed, except the floor display in Aisle 4....sheesh.
