Mary Worth 3954

I woke up this morning super excited to see how Jared's phone call to Jess was going to go, but I guess I have to wait another day while we commemorate the Declaration of Independence of the United States in 1776. It's okay, I needed a break anyway.

Everyone have a safe and happy Independence Day, at least those who live in the United States, celebrating our never-ending pursuit of liberty for all people.

  1. Ideally, you should cook the hot dogs before putting them in the buns. And that’s the most unpleasant icing color since the armadillo cake in Steel Magnolias.

  2. No pink icing on this cake, but there are pink hotdogs - gag. No thanks. I’ll pass on that cake, too. Just look at the shadow the cut piece is casting! How ominous.

Santa Royale’s fireworks display happens in daytime so everyone can see better.

Happy Independence Day, everyone. I’m going to listen to William Daniels as John Adams complain about the Congress in “1776.”

  3. Did Mary cut a few pieces of cake before she iced it? Why else would the red strip of icing on top be following the cut edges?

  5. @HelenClark, Wilbur was in Mary’s kitchen when the cake was cooling and took a big bite out of a corner. Wilbur and his endearing quirks!

  6. Happy Independence Day, one and all! It's sad that the term "patriot" has been co-opted by the antithesis of patriots, but here we are. Whooda thunk it? But all is not lost. As John Adams said on his death bed, "Jefferson [still] lives!"

  8. I appreciate the dystopian flag on the cake with the 6 stripes and maybe 7 stars. Good luck, USA, you're going to need it.
I also appreciate the cake frosting because everyone will have blue teeth and a blue tongue after eating it.

  9. Why is Wilbur’s toupee hanging off the edge of the table? Gross. Think I’ll pass on the cake.

  10. Sandi Ego-

That skimpily striped and starred flag represents the one in use the year of Mary’s birth.

  11. Normally one cuts and lifts a piece of cake with one's dominant hand and holds the plate with one's non-dominant hand.
News Flash: Mary Worth is left-handed.

  12. Mary might have saved herself some work and gone with these similarly iced confections. https://www.hostesscakes.com/products/cupcakes/patriotic/
