Oh, now you really LIKE Ed. I thought you said you were in love with him. I know those are not exclusive emotions, but it sure sounds like you are downgrading this relationship to avoid being hurt. Don't let your fast failures discourage you so much, Estelle.
Mary’s counseling and baked products gig is 24/7.
ReplyDeleteEstelle can enroll in the accelerated veterinary assistant program at Santa Royale Community college. After just three weeks, she’ll be qualified to help Ed at Animal Hospital!
Ed doesn’t want to complain, unlike you, Estelle. This level of repetitive whining is in clear violation of local Salad Town bylaws and ordinances. If this doesn’t stop at once the whole table will need to be extradited to Sandwich Town, and you know who’s lying in wait for you there.
ReplyDeleteSalad Tourr: Salads of the World!
ReplyDelete"Well, Estelle, at most there are only two available men in Santa Royale at one time, and the other one is Wilbur. (The other one is always Wilbur.) You can't be manless, that's just unnatural! Even I keep Dr Jeff on a string. What are you going to do?"
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Green Steven sleeps 'til noon, watches soaps and game shows all afternoon, and hits the bars at night. "Ahhh, this is the life," he says to himself as he withdraws another thousand from Animal Hospital's bank account.

"Maybe they're understaffed." Another priceless pearl of wisdom falls from Mary's lips.

Forget it Stell, it's Salad Town.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the EXACT same strip content as yesterday? Look, North America Syndicate, some people still read this thing. Not for pleasure, but still ...
ReplyDeleteThank you, M. Wanders for saying exactly what I was thinking regarding the change from "love" to "like" for Estelle. I tend to think Estelle was just filling space with that line though, so as to let Mary wow us with her brilliant observation that MAYBE Dr. Ed is understaffed. It's pretty unbelieveable that these two supposedly smart guys (assuming they went to accredited schools for their vet training) couldn't figure out that they need better time management and some administration in order to succeed. No, leave that for the Meddler in Chief to come up with, since nothing progresses in the Worthiverse without her knowledge or blessing. Cue the coming victory lap, probably in a week or two.
ReplyDeleteWell, Mary's been suggesting it all week, but I'm afraid Stel is just too dense to get it. Maybe tomorrow...maybe next week, Mary will have to come out and just say it. Go help him out Estelle!!
ReplyDeleteDoes Estelle “like” Ed, or does she “like like” Ed?
