I used to take piano lessons as a kid, but I quit because they were so boring to me. So what I really want to do is watch someone else practice the piano. Maybe tomorrow, Estelle can refill the water in her vase. That would be really interesting, too.
"Time" by Pink Floyd?
ReplyDeleteA more appropriate song for Estelle is “Too Much Time on My Hands” by Styx.
ReplyDeleteThat date with Ed has been the only one in over a year, so of course she remembers it. This is going to be a looonnnggg week.
By jove, I got it!
ReplyDeleteDr. Ed: Hey Estelle, how about Play Misty for Me?
ReplyDeleteThe only thing more riveting than watching someone else practice piano is reading Karen Moy’s description of someone practicing piano. Or even better, reading my own snarky commentary on said description. I think I’ve finally achieved the ultimate in Baudrillardian absurd literary criticism!
ReplyDeleteI had to look at the web site for "Not One More Vet", and it appears KM has cribbed the entire plot of the beleaguered veterinarians right from the description of what today's veterinarians face as posted on this web site. How odd it is to have the Worthiverse cover something relevant. KM skipped the pandemic, but now we're on to the national shortage of veterinarians and the growing rate of suicide among veterinary professionals. At least Mary isn't pretending to know what to do beyond muffins, Sanka, and sympathy, but Estelle is less than effective, leaving a phone message to a support organization that helps with veterinarian mental health for Dr. Ed. If you really cared, sister, you'd talk with him directly before assuming he might kill himself over one more awful Yelp review or euthanasia. Clumsy or what?
ReplyDeleteThis story has become painfully boring. To liven things up, KM needs to provide Estelle with a little sheet music, if you know what I mean.

And in typical fashion, much like her Sunday quotes, KM misses the point. It's not Dr. Ed who is having problems, it's the nephew. So shouldn't Stell have been providing the info to Dr. Ed to give to the nephew?
ReplyDeleteAt least 'Stelle now has an excuse to rush to the "Animal Hospital" animal hospital. Libby hasn't said "meow" once. Definitely something wrong.
ReplyDeleteHey Estelle: "Free Bird!"
