Dad hasn't even taken his seat, and Adrian is already gushing! Gushing! And who can blame her. Ted Confey, adventurer, author, and Washington D.C. socialite, is every woman's dream!
His little moustache is a clear indicator that he's a money-hungry gigolo. (I bet at some point in this story, Mary calls him that.) But he's obviously not been on this gigolo job route very long; it's more lucrative to finagle the fortunes of older women, like Mary. (You don't think ... nah!)
Uh Oh, I just had a sobering thought! The names in Mary Worth frequently have secret clues to them, i.e. "Kelrast" unjumbled = "stalker", and Ella Bird, "a little bird", Rita Beglar "begging" for help, etc. So..."Confey" probably means "con man" Shoot!!!! And here I was SO hoping Adrian had found the Perfect One! *sigh*
This "highly rated" restaurant has an innovative approach to interior design: paint all the walls bright orange! Purportedly, it stimulates the appetite.
It's Mr. Denton! The guy who lost his family after not listening to Ella Byrd has hit the online dating scene after moving out of Charterstone to start his life over again!
I may possibly have figured out the coming storyline! First, the Conf(ederac)y last name, plus the Rhett Butler moustache, second, Ted calling Adrian "Queenie"--Butterfly McQUEEN played Cissy in "GWTW"! Santa Royale is going to become integrated! And Ted and Adrian will kill a mule in the struggle! Now I just have to figure out why Don Ameche is playing the Clark Gable role...
Has there ever been a non-white person in this strip? Ever? I'm wracking my brain and I just can't remember one, not even a black, Latino, or Asian in the background.
I could be wrong and I hate to cast aspersions, but ...
One of the most highly rated restaurants in Santa Royale? Considering there are only three, thats not much of a compliment..."even though it is an excellent choiuce of venue"
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
Ted is obviously a sleaze. How long will it take Mary to figure that out and take action?
ReplyDeleteunder the Mark Trail school of badness, Ted will soon be getting punched out while Jeff yells "SURPRISE!"
ReplyDeleteWasn't there yet another restaurant in Santa Royale -- Hearts of Palm? Or was that in another town?

ReplyDeleteIf Mark Trail were here he would know what to do.
ReplyDeleteOh my... Ted is so handsome I'm swooning!! What woman WOULDN'T think he's just the dreamiest!? C'mon guys!

ReplyDeleteCon fed (er) et y.
He's secretly a sympathizer with the seccessionist movement of Charterstone.
Well, we know this isn't a relationship based on looks...

ReplyDeleteI'm glad we all ascribe to the Mark Trail School of Detection: Mustache Division.

ReplyDeleteI don't trust anyone who goes around calling people "queenie." Unless they're, you know, a king or something.

ReplyDeleteThere is a non-white character in MW: the gardener, Carlos Alorra!
ReplyDeleteI did not know Dr Corey had a daughter. I must pay more attention
