And maybe because of THIS...

And maybe because of THIS...

And maybe because of THIS...

  1. Well, I guess we have to wait til Monday to get the - gasp - full picture...

  2. I was worried about the B?BJ we met last Sunday, as she appeared to have been replaced Monday-Saturday by an older relative. But it's good to see her again today. Maybe she'll have some ideas about where Uncle Ernie is.

  3. LOL Wanders! How could Moy possibly compete with the stuff of your imagination?!

  4. I for one am quite eager to see B?BJ? open her suitcase o' pathologies for Mary to poke her fingers in.

This is turning into a really vile guilty pleasure.

Please, please, please make it good though! I'm setting myself up for something so vastly disappointing, at least compared to Wanders' suggestions, I just know it.

My vote is for a receipt for far too many dresses from the local mall, stuck to the wall with a hunting knife.

  5. We know the item too shocking to show is only going to be a stupid pile of clothes or something.

I feel for Bonnie. Anybody who gains and loses weight as fast as she does really does need to have a full wardrobe in each of her many sizes.

  6. Vicki (aging too fast)April 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM

It's her wayback machine! She bought it from that NASA website same time she got the space warp machine, as Taryn noted yesterday. It was on clearance, two-for-one.

Bonnie herself uses the machine constantly, but Ernie gets fed up with her demands that he enter it repeatedly to become the handsome "stud" she married twenty years ago. "Why can't you just accept me the way I am NOW!?", he pleads. But Bonnie insists and nags him all day long! Ernie hates it b/c the darn thing gives him gas and permanent hair loss. Finally he just had ENOUGH!
If she acts now, Mary might be able to buy it from Bonnie at a really good price!

  7. I think that the apartment is empty because everything has been repossessed.

Again the weekend Bonnie is much more attractive than the one we see during the week. This time she isn't shopping...unless she is doing it online?! hmmm.

  8. Moy can't compete with a Monkey in front of a typewriter.

  9. I guess we have to wait until tomorrow, but I wouldn't put it past Moy and Giella to draw this out, with an entire week of strips featuring Mary's shocked face and Bonnie's shamed expressions as Mary asks how things go this bad, all before we see the meager stack of boxes and purchases in Bonnie's living room.

  10. hahahahaahaha! The best, Wanders!

  11. Why the auras of light around Bonnie and Mary in the final two panels? The glow is kind of creeping me out. Maybe Young Sunday Bonnie is an alien life form that's going to shove Mary into the spaceship in the middle of the living room, and off they boldly go where no meddler has gone before.

And then Toby takes over the meddlin' helm....

  12. 4/26 - OK, so that's what a hoarder's house looks like in the Giella world. Okey-dokey. A dress stand displaying a shirt with a Peter Pan collar? For real?

Look at Mary in the second panel - her eyes are glowing and the glee is taking over. "Yes, that's it, dear. Pour it out, all out to Auntie Mary! Tee hee, I can't wait to tell Tobey this one. BJ? has made a makeshift table out of Maisie's boxes and put a vase of flowers on top of them!"

  13. Do you think that Moy reads our comments and then just settles for dull?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Lord, Bonnie sure does have dull taste in clothing.

  15. Now we're in a for a week or a month of hearing Mary tell B?BJ and Toby and anyone else who will listen about how there is often want but not need.
It would have been so much cooler if the clothes were piled in a huge mountain and there was an avalanche cause by Mary opening the door, burying both of them. We could spend the next few weeks watching Toby try to find Mary, until she realizes that life is so much more peaceful without her constant jabbering.
Ernie, on the other hand, would find that he misses Bonnie and would dig her out, just in time. Because she was really shopping to handle her anxiety about whether he really loved her, she'd be cured once and for all. Wouldn't that be a happy ending?

  16. I was a little disappointed when I saw the neat stacks of Maisie's and Marcy's boxes today. I thought we were in for a full-on hoarder's apartment stacked from floor to ceiling with stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maybe the true psychotic hoarding is taking place in another room, e.g thirty years worth of used band-aids in the bathroom, an ashtray heaped over with toenail clippings on a bedside table. Sorry, that's too interesting (or disgusting, YMMV).

    ReplyDelete
  18. Neat stacks of untouched items still in their original boxes and bags!? Well isn't that perfect, because Mary knows how to return. She'd done it at least once. Of course, items must be returned within 180 days of purchase; that could be a problem in the absence of real time.

Also, Mary should leave room for negotiation in working with Bonnie. For example: ANY shirt displayed prominently on a grecian pedestal might be more of a "need" than a "want".

    ReplyDelete
  19. Bonnie's room is bad? Enough to cause Ernie to leave? It looks like my living room after I've cleaned up.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh, good grief!I was expecting (and hoping for)the #2 scenario in Wanders' photos. And we get THIS!? There's not an empty pizza box, banana peel, or tipped-over drink cup in sight! The floor looks perfectly clean.

P.s. WHAT is that thing draped over her sofa?

    ReplyDelete
  21. It WAS a clean floor. Before Mary dropped a peach pie on it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have a feeling B?B?J?'s cousin isn't really getting married...

    ReplyDelete
  23. So hoarding really isn't the problem, merely compulsive shopping outside her means. Time to accept that truth and move on.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So, now that the ''big reveal'' ended up being nothing more than a few boxes, and oddly displayed clothes, how are they going to drag this storyline out another three or four months?

Maybe Mary will hire one of those specialists that deal with obsessive compulsive behavior, and we'll see B?BJ explain exactly why she ''needs'' every single item she owns.

''Now, Bonnie...about this sweater- is this a ''need'', or a ''want''?''

''Oh, THAT sweater! Well, I bought that in the summer of 83...Ernie and I had just came back from our honeymoon, and I was a size 5...or was it 7? Maybe it was a 10? Oh, who knows! It seems like I go up and down in size, every week! Anyway, it reminds me of that, so it's definitely a ''need''!''

    ReplyDelete
  25. I swear, sometimes I look at BJ? and see the cartoon version of Mary Astor.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't quite know how but I'm pretty sure the internet's to blame.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, I'm surprised they went ahead and revealed the "piles" of Bonnie's compulsive shopping purchases instead of dragging it out a couple of days. I was hoping that it would be much worse, but of course, it's not that big of a mess. I mean, really, who among us hasn't had more piles of boxes and purchases around the living room for wrapping Christmas presents?

But it's best to have very low expectations when it comes to Mary Worth, although Moy and Giella will do their best to aim even lower.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think the "THIS" that Bonnie was referring to was that menacing bit of graffiti on her door. "4-25 Moy + Giella" - what can it mean? And how did they get inside to write it?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Chester (in the closet)April 26, 2010 at 11:14 PM

Hoarding? I think it may just be a lack of closet space. B? may need that hanger thing that Wanders mentioned a few months-years ago (in MW time).

    ReplyDelete
  30. 4/27 - *BAM!* And now that Mary has passed judgment, we will go into the rehabilitation phase, where prompt meddling will begin and a Charterstone garage sale will be held. Also, on the menu will be salmon squares laced with a potent drug to turn BJ? into a zombie, thus curing her spending problem.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Are they in another room today? There seems to be more goods laying around then yesterday. That must be what is disturbing Bonnie AND Ernie, that the purchases multiply once she brings them home?!

    ReplyDelete

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
