Mary Worth 1,398

If only all the teenagers in America had the opportunity to have a near death experience and realize it was worse than breaking up. With Dave.

  1. Great job on today's post, Son of Wanders.

If Dawn is not going to dedicate herself to some cause because of her life-altering experience, it is time for this storyline to end.

(Maybe Dawn could volunteer for a disaster relief group - helping those trampled near lifeboats, for example.)

  2. Peggy Olson--since Dawn is a "strong swimmer", perhaps she should join the Coast Guard...no, wait...they want strength of character, too, and dedication, and...forget that idea.

How long do you suppose Karen Moy is going to devote to justifying this dreadful storyline? Someone make it stop, please!

  3. Srsly? I didn't come here yesterday specifically to avoid the final death throes of this dreck. Yet it throes on and on...

  4. I wonder if Dave dropped Dawn because of her hairy back?

  5. Disaster? What disaster?

    Oh...you mean The Incident.

Dawn's "embarrassment" should be because of her failure to be One Who Helped Others. Instead, it's because of being hung up on Dave.

We can only suppose that her "anger" has similar juvenile origins, such as the fact that she passed up the opportunity to try the Flavourful Vegetables when she had the chance.

  6. It's time for a dingo to jump put of the woods and eat them both.

  7. Dave dumped her because she wears the same clothes for weeks at a time. Dawn stinks to high heaven.

  8. Say, what happened to Dawn's pendant between panels? Did Mary swipe it?

All of us are going through a lot of feelings about what happened, too: boredom, disgust, ennui....

A shout-out to Son of Wanders for his pithy comment!

  9. I suggest that a certain ethnic organization with criminal ties take out Dawn and Wilbur for not helping that little girl who was a member's daughter of the organization. Justice would be served and we could get this story over with ASAP!

  10. I'm glad to see that a 15-year old is carrying on the tradition of Mary Worth readers. Obviously, good up-bringing.

  11. Since I can't read the secret messages on my iPad, I never would have guessed who wrote today's post. GREAT JOB!!

    Also, loved Paul's comment @9:25.

  12. Paul, Dawn only wears purple because it was Dave's favorite color. We need a look into her closet!

  13. I would suggest that, since Santa Sanctimony is in California, it might be more likely that a cougar would leap out and devour Mary and Dawn.

But that might lead to a storyline involving Mary AS a cougar. Yikes.

  14. Birdie, great catch on Dawn's hairy back. Life is brutal, especially during a full moon.

Jerrybear, I think Georgio was a member of the Black Hand. He gave up on a vendetta when Wilbur kept calling and calling

  15. Whatever has become of Mary's nose in panel 2? Her profile looks like Where's Waldo's.

  16. And by disaster Mary means Dawn getting dumped by Dave of course. (and I'd do it again)

  17. Dave, you should start dating her again, just so you can dump her and see if she reacts differently.

It's OK. With his new postion, Wanders is making so much money that he can take her back to Italy if she needs a refresher course in "Life is not brutal. We must be kind for the sake of the cities."

  18. (Wednesday's strip)

So Dawn now wants to live a more meaningful life, eh?

Here's a suggestion: Get your butt back in school. Finish your &^%$ degree.

  19. I'm taking bets that Mary suggests that Dawn emulate her and become a volunteer at Mountainview Hospital. Mary will invite Dawn to lunch at Diner (going Dutch, of course). Dr. Drew Cory's attention will be diverted from Men's Fitness Magazine long enough to be impressed by the new, selfless Dawn, and the two of them will traipse off together to Peace Village.

  20. And hopefully never heard from again.

  21. Mary gives a big fist pump when Dawn admits she feels silly moping over Dave. Somewhere in her mind, Mary is again taking credit for something with which she had nothing to do.

  22. In "Moy Speak" what do you suppose "expanded world view" actually means? Do you suppose a normal person might have said that on the night of the disaster Dawn gained a "new perspective on life"?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wait, Dawn, before you hear Mary's suggestion, listen to this one: join a convent. A strictly cloistered order. In the most remote part of the Swiss Alps.

    And take Mary with you.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Kitkat, you nailed it! Now that Dawn has an expanded world view, Mary wants her to volunteer at the hospital.

Of course, it looks like Dawn is trying to use her secret decoder ring to get out of this situation.

Meanwhile, her straps continue to appear and disappear at random.
