This recent trip that you're still ON?
To help explore the meaning of the word "Recent," here's a video of my kids that is not recent. Not recent at all. But timeless. It lasts less than a minute. If you think it is cute, share it on Facebook and stuff.
Thanks for sharing the video, Wanders. I expect Mary would say, "No, I'M cute!" (I hope you and Mrs. Wanders are adjusting to the semi-empty nest okay.)
ReplyDeleteThose are not clouds, they're fumes from Mary's waves of smugness. And what a clever Karen Moy touch - as she returns to Santa Royale, Mary is reading "A Return to ..." Could it be "A Return to Love" by Marianne Williamson? It's surely not "A Return to Modesty: Rediscovering the Lost Virtue" by Wendy Shalit. Mary lost that particular virtue long, long ago.
What large windows this "plane" has... or it a Greyhound bus that has gone airborne?
ReplyDeleteWow- I had the exact same thought on the Greyhound
ReplyDeleteNo, *I* cute.
ReplyDeleteDid Mary really help June? It's been so long ago that I've forgotten.
And Mary conveniently left out Aggie, for whom she did absolutely nothing. Maybe those billows surrounding her "plane" are smoke, and she's discovering the consequences of karma.
My observations today:
ReplyDelete(1) Those clouds are awfully small and stationary.
(2) Mary always gets a window seat.
@KitKat: I, too, think that Mary's book is "A Return to Love". Judging from the online description, it's exactly the sort of book Mary (and Moy) would like.
ReplyDeleteA fauxprof factoid. In the early 1950s, two BOAC Comet jetliners crashed due to catastrophic decompression at altitude. The cause was metal fatigue at the window corners. Since those tragedies airliner windows have never been square, and I don't think they have ever been as large as a greyhound bus window.
I'm not so sure about "A Return to Love/Modesty." Looking closely at the last word, it could be ending with an M and maybe a P (or B?). Judging by the centering, It's probably a four-letter word. So:
ReplyDeleteReturn to Camp?
Return to (a) Dump?
Return to ...
I think the book is about cooking, Charterstone-style, and so is entitled Return to Lump.
ReplyDelete"Hi, my name is Mary Worth and I will be self serving you tonight. Can I start you off with a platitude or are you ready to receive my unsolicited advice now...which in my world means you will not get anything for weeks and then I will be gone."
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recap, Mary! If I had only known, I wouldn't have had to bother with reading the strip for the last two months. Yes, that's right. This "plot" has been going on since Mary arrived at Pox Wellness on July 10th. Groan! I'm glad I'm still hanging out poolside at Charterstone.
