It's all so exciting, I can hardly contain myself.
Here's a preview of the next few days.
Friday: Mary and Jeff are seated. Saturday: Menus are presented by Jerry and the night's special--fish sammies. Sunday: Recap of the super exciting airport pick-up, awesome ride home, getting gussied up, and menu presentation.
This is a different Jerry. All male food service providers in Santa Royale are called Jerry. It's a local ordinance like pink curtains and orange couches.
I'm think the dead fish on the wall is the cartoonist's trope for "we're at the Bum Boat." Has there ever been a Bum Boat strip that didn't have the fish in at least one of the panels? (I ask this rhetorically because I'm sure as heck not going to go back and check)
Either Mary and Jeff look Like That because of a heavy petting session in the parking lot, or:
1. Mary had a stroke and Jeff had a facelift 2. Mary forgot her makeup and that is Jeff's son 3. The Bum Boat is actually underwater 4. The artist set his onion rings on this panel 5. The artist drew this panel after a Three Martini Lunch
Wanders, you beat me to it! That's exactly what I was thinking! Poor Jerry, though. He has lost a lot of hair since we last saw him. Nevertheless, he's still amazingly attractive! Look out, Dr. Jeff!
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
So someone was drawing these characters, worked on it for a while, then looked at this and said, "OK, I'm done, this is what I want people to see."
ReplyDeleteWow.

When Mary refers to her "our old familiar," she means Jeff. Mary always uses the royal "we/our."
ReplyDelete"Great food..great ambience...a great restaurant!" = Jeff trolling for a discount
I see the Bum Boat goes all out on their menu design & logo. Who did this - a second-grader?
ReplyDeleteI see the (lack of) storyline is still moving at a pre-global warming glacial pace... Sigh. How about a nice trip to the powder room for Mary.
ReplyDeleteWanders - I think you put more time and effort into this than Ms. Moy does.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Today Dr Jeff looks like Howdy Doody. And Mary looks like a Bea Arthur-Olympia Dukakis hybrid.
ReplyDeleteHow kind of Archie Andrews to take Miss Grundy out for dinner.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was looking at a spruced up version of Alfred E. Newman. As for Mary, I think her face is melting, poor dear!
ReplyDeleteJerry never lost his faith!
