"My dealer knows a few people in Colombia, Ma, if you want me to do sometin'..."
Tommy's last line, "Aw, Ma..." reminds me of a family vacation we took when the kids were younger. We stopped at a gas station in Pennsylvania on our way to Niagara Falls. We started giggling when we saw the name of the station was Wawa. I couldn't stop laughing. The rest of the trip, anytime anyone had to stop to use a restroom, we'd call out, "I have to go we-we at the Wawa, Mama!"
I've since moved to New Jersey, where Wawa's are almost as common as Dunkin' Donuts, and frankly, they're pretty awesome.
"What?! Why?! Wilbur?....Who?"
ReplyDeleteI'm confused with the 2nd panel...i Iris on the right or the left?
(fabulous hidden comment btw--noticed the same, but couldn't put it into words quite so elegantly)
The best thing the Beedies can do now is find a buy one-get one free deal at the Santa Royale Palais de Hair.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled "Doing Love And Adulting--Both Hard Things!"
ReplyDeleteBroke up! Video chat Bogota!
What? Why?
New! Believe!
Long distance! Aw...
Could panel two indicate that this is fadeout for the Tweedlebeedies? That they will go off into the sunset together, forever co-dependent, and we will never see them again? One can but hope.
ReplyDeleteIris reminds me of Cousin It! and Bogota is "down there" not "over there".
ReplyDeleteRe the Wawa: our family has a similar reaction to the Pei Wei Asian Diner in our town. I don't think I could ever bring myself to eat there now, after all the jokes!
ReplyDeleteI'm having trouble processing the thought of Tommy as a relationship counselor.

Putting aside the horror of their conjoined mopheads, I challenge anyone to reconcile that anatomically implausible arrangement of bodies, chairs and, let's not forget, a table.
ReplyDeleteOur family did a "fast food playoff" bracket with 32 regional and nationwide Quick Serve Restaurants (Chick-fil-A, In-and-Out, BK, McD, Wendys, KFC, Subway, TGIF, Applebees, Jersey Mike's, Waffle House, etc)
ReplyDeleteThe Winner was WAWA! You can eat every meal there. (Though the ambiance in the Waffle House at 2 AM is hard to beat, hon)
Since when does anyone "do" love?
ReplyDeleteTommy looks like the Stretch Armstrong doll, before stretching.
ReplyDeleteWanders, where in New Jersey? I live in Collingswood, work in New Brunswick. I have 4 Wawas within 5 minutes of my house.
ReplyDeleteRob, I'm within 5 minutes of your house too it seems. But that's a big commute you have!
ReplyDeleteNo way, Wanders! Welcome to Jersey! We're a few houses away from the Cooper River. We love it here. Check out our art show in December. You may even meet some Mary Worth wannabes there! And even some Nola Wolvensons.

Yes, it's a long commute but it's worth it.
Holler if you have any questions about the area!
