Mary Worth 2850

A Godsend, I tell you, an absolute Godsend... for those who don't believe in God:

  1. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

    "Life Through Wilbur-Coloured Glasses".

    Dawn, Godsend and Confidante.
    Broke up?
Yes, mess. Away, another guy, alone.
    Not. Meant forever.

  2. I've run out of things to mock about this tedious pity party.

Meanwhile in Beautiful Italy, Harlan and his class have somehow been granted a private audience with Pope Francis. Unfortunately, the visit is cut short when Dawn carelessly knocks over a cruet of consecrated wine and drops an f-bomb.

  3. I don’t think Wilbur and Dawn have even sat down for a meal together since his return. Unless one counts having a muffin break. (And I had hoped not to type the word “muffin” any time soon.)

  4. Wilbur means "godsend" in the traditional sense — like a plague of locusts, or the deaths of all first-born sons.

  5. Wilbur got his post breakup meddle for a whole week in January. Did Moy forget, or did she just run out of ideas? We're way, way overdue for some new faces at Charterstone. Maybe a condo full of cruise ship entertainers?! Count Weirdly? Anything!

  6. Apologies if someone already suggested this, but "Alone Again, Naturally" by Gilbert O'Sullivan seems a fitting addition to the Charterstone Jukebox in the wake of Wilbur's solitary discomfort. Plus, I think he should get a wig like Gilbert O'Sullivan's in this Youtube video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_P-v1BVQn8

    1. LouseF, “Alone Again, Naturally,” is an excellent recommendation. It has actually been on the jukebox ever since Iris and Wilbur broke up. One of the times, anyway. Not sure which. But I did add “Tired of Me” by the Skyliners last night. You can find it on the Jukebox by opening Spotify and hitting Control F on a computer, or on your phone by scrolling up to uncover the filter window and searching for the title.

  7. Scottie McW - Now YOU are an actual Godsend. Thanks for breaking up the tedium of this strip with another good laugh.

  8. As Wanders highlights, Wilbur and Dawn barely connected after his return. He said nothing about his misadventures in Bogota and the Fabiana escapade, and she neglected to mention her relationship with Dr. Boss Cad. Little communication there! And, if Dawn had been his confidante, that would have been icky inappropriate - bleah! I can’t think of anyone less qualified to give advice than Wilbur the Whiner.

June seems to be channeling Peter Max in panel 2. There’s a head with hair, now she needs to add a face.

  9. @ Anon above

    [Blush] Thank you very much.

Moy came to a fork in the road: Italy or Charterstone. And she made the worst possible choice.

  10. So Wilbur believes Mary sent Dawn.

  11. I like Downpuppy's call for fresh faces here. Remember the cross-over with The Phantom? Perhaps Mary could try her meddling skills on The Nomad. Or better yet, she could get a visit from Judge Parker's CIA-assassin daughter-in-law, April.

I feel so sorry for Wilbur! My heart really goes out to him! Let's hear more ... and more ... and MORE about his "problems." Sigh! ... Sob! ... BARF!!!
