Happy Wilbur is as obnoxious as mopey Wilbur. Perhaps Wilbur is just plain obnoxious. At any rate, let this be the sum of his good news. He doesn’t deserve to get Iris back, and we don’t deserve to see any more of either of them. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a wedding to get back to. I took a break during the sermon. (I think I did that during my own wedding.)
LOL fauxprof, my sentiments exactly. Wilbur is such a repulsive character. Now that he’s got his precious columns back he’ll be as Smug as ever. I think Mary was in charge of the big letter writing campaign.
I’ll third the remarks of @fauxprof and @Regina W-P. We’ve had more than enough of Wilbur, who should be banished for a loooonnnggg time. How about forever??
Tomorrow: A knock on the door. Wilbur opens it to find a weary mud-covered truck driver. "Hello, I was just making this shipment of double-A batteries to the Santa Royale Radio Shack when my truck broke down, and I thought it'd be just a shame for all of them to go to waste!"
The public demanded the return of Wilbur's column for the same reason that we would demand the return of MW if this strip was dropped from our local paper: so we can make fun of it.
I was wondering how Mary will be able to take credit for this sudden reversal in Wilbur's fortunes, but it occurs to me that she may have orchestrated the "popular demand" by calling in favors and getting previously meddled characters to write letters in support of Wendy.
At the risk of beating this phone-holding thing to death, when Brigman draws people in left profile, she depicts them holding the phone like any normal human would. But for right-profile and straight-on views, she draws them in that stupid way of hers.
So she knows how to draw it correctly, she just refuses to do it. So why would someone deliberately do a bad job?, you might ask. Because she has no pride in her work, I might reply.
Scottie McW, don’t be too hard on June. She may just hate this awful job that’s she is contractually bound to do, and is trying to keep herself amused—and us with her. She’s much more talented than KM, but must draw whatever the ridiculous script she’s sent requires.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.

ReplyDeletePOOL PARTY TIME!

Your wedding comment cracked me up, fauxprof.

ReplyDeleteI demand to know who demanded it. It had to have been Mary and her gang of accomplices.
ReplyDelete@ Fauxprof
ReplyDeleteReally? I thought today's sermon was the best part! "Stand By Me" with Benny King was cool too.
Sunday: Even more reasons to hate Wilbur: He has the gall to quote Sally Field. Us to Wilbur: "We hate you! We really hate you!"
ReplyDeleteWilbur is delirious that his "friends" (re:Iris) will be reading his wonderful musings.
Wilbur is such a loathsome character. Don't be a Wilbur.

What a hack.

ReplyDeleteBy the way, does Wilbur have “the best words”?
Wilbur's friends = Mary (and the jury's out on whether she's actually a friend or just regards Wilbur as a doofus who she can meddle at will)
ReplyDeleteFamily = Dawn (an aging undergrad currently cavorting with her icky professor in another country)
So stop that victory lap, Wilbur!
