Mary Worth 3436

There are a few things she could be whispering that could restore my fondness for Madi, and one of them would be, "Use your brains, if you have 'em."

  1. Toby: “Madi, WHAT did your Gram put in her banana bread?”

Madi: ha ha ha ha ha …. “Wow, I can’t believe you fell for that. I guess you really are as dumb as Mary said. The secret ingredient is peanut butter. It won’t help your banana bread but it might work to get my gum out of your hair!”

  2. Mary: "AHEM!"

Madi: "Sorry, Mrs. Worth, but Saul says you're the biggest blabbermouth in California."

  4. Say what you will about Toby, she’s ideal for our snark inspiration. Let’s hope she sticks around.

Maybe the secret ingredient is a coin (any coin). The person who finds the coin in his/her piece of the banana bread has to (1) clean up the kitchen and (2) provide an actual edible dessert from an actual store. (And I still maintain that “banana bread” and “dessert” cancel each other out.)

  7. Put the eggs in the batter, not on the counter.

  8. Madi: "I'll tell you since you really need it. It's bananas, you big blonde dummy."

  9. Madi's Gram's secret ingredient is something corny like love.

  10. I think meg solved the puzzle on 7 Aug, and I'm surprised no one has picked up on it. Madi is simply a shuffling of most of the letters in Maida (Heatter,) and I wonder if it may have been a name used by some of her closer friends. Could KM be familiar with the story and this simply be her way of paying tribute to the Queen of Cake?

  11. Grandma's secret ingredient? Hmmm....what alcoholic beverage goes best with bananas?

  12. @MDMaryTed - rum, of course. How about rum soaked raisins for the secret ingredient?

  13. Banana-flavored rum?

  14. Banana-flavored rum could explain them churning out all those loaves without 20 pounds of overripe bananas in the kitchen. It would also explain the expressions on Mary and Toby’s faces (hic!). Renewed enthusiasm indeed!
