Mary Worth 3446

Most 13 year olds don’t have such a clear vision for the future. She’s really got her head on straight now, thanks to Mary.

  1. Pork chops and mashed potatoes, but no acrobats.

Mary’s beginning to do a slow burn whenever Madi praises Gram’s cooking. It’ll be fun when Mary whips up the next batch of muffins and Madi remarks that Gram’s were better. “Madi dear, it’s bad manners to compare muffins. especially considering one of the bakers is dead and out of the competition. So zip your lips, cupcake.”

  2. KitKat, you are so right. You will not find magnanimous among all the words you could use to describe Mary.

  3. Saul asks: How are your pork chops, Madi? I, being Jewish, have never tasted pork chops. What are they like? Would you like to hear the story of the enormous family row that blew up when my cousin, your grandmother, stopped keeping kosher, and my side of the family vowed never to speak her name again?

  4. Pork chops and mashies is a pretty heavy meal for a lunch, no? And it looks like Mary is digging into the Trough O' Salad.

Also, shouldn't it be Toby who's treating everyone to lunch?

I hope we move on to the big meeting Monday. I'd like to witness The Great Charterstone Banana Bread Rapture.

  6. Madi must have taken lessons from Hugo in how to frame an insult as a compliment. When she goes to France to study cooking, he can give her the master class.

  7. Saul: How are the pork chops, Madi?

Madi: Good, but not as good as Gram's. It wasn't so much the seasoning she used, but the way she managed to serve them while doing a back flip over the table.

  8. @KitKat

Your second comment poses an (arguably) interesting question.

We all know that whole-heartedly is good.

    And half-heartedly is bad.

So, is heartedly worse than half-heartedly? Or does it hover around three-quarters heartedly?

    Damaged minds want to know.

  9. Perhaps KM had Saul point out the contents of Madi's lunch in an effort to illustrate to us dense readers that he is no longer Mr. Stingy but took Madi and Mary to a place that serves a FULL menu, no cheap pizza or subs for Saul! Perhaps there is a dogs' section in this restaurant where Greta is cavorting with her kind while the humans eat, since we haven't seen her since they entered the restaurant.
