Mary Worth 468

This is a lovely moment. They're already engaged, so it is perfectly appropriate to give your fiance a second-hand ring while sitting in her car parked outside the mechanic's shop waiting to have the steering wheel installed.

I guess it is kind of bad news. For those of you who can't read the rediculously fine print, Karen Moy is acknowledging that she left out Jad Fair's name when she quoted from "Some Things Last a Long Time" last December. I'd love to think we had a small part to play in helping to restore justice to the Worthiverse. Congratulations, Jad, on finally getting your name in a Mary Worth strip - even if it is extremely tiny. I am very jealous.

  1. For the record, there is clearly a steering wheel in the strip for March 21, which wasn't posted here at this website. Very interesting!!! Hmmmmm.

However, in one of today's panels, there is the hint of a wheel. In other panels, Ms. Adrian is scooched up way to close to the dashboard to be comfortable.

Alternate explanations: (1) Time for the 24K mile steering wheel service; (2) This is Aldo Kelrast's old car and a damaged wheel is being replaced; (3) To save money for their wedding, Ms. Adrian is swapping her OEM wheel for a cheaper after-market replacement and selling the original on ebay with a celebrity status attached to it (all MW characters are celebrities to us).

  2. Adrian asks the question of Ted "We both want the same things don't we?" Unless Adrian is secretly hoping to be taken to the cleaners by Ted,then I don't think that they both share the same goals in life.

  3. Ted says, The bad news is that we need a new windshield too since you just put your head through it,Adrian.

  4. So should the song for Ted and Adrian's romance be Free Ride?

  5. Meanwhile, with frail elderly hands, Ted's dear mother is somewhere out there frantically pawing through her beloved jewelry box. Her eyes are brimming with tears of frustration! She just KNOWS she put that ring back in it's box. But it's not there!!! "Oh, dear, oh dear", she cries to herself, "is my memory slipping that badly!?"

Ted, we know you are a cruel, self-centerd jerk. Now what's your "bad news" for Adrian, huh?

  6. Seven panels -- seven panels -- and what do we end up with? "Here's a ring", "it's beautiful", "I have something to say". That's it. that's two panels, tops. Plenty of room left to show Toby tiling her kitchen, Mary doing her paperwork, and Dr. Jeff putting the last shreds of his manhood in that old dusty mason jar he keeps at the back of the closet. But noooooo, it has to drag out like this...

  7. Carol, Ted and Adrian's song has been on the Chaterstone Jukebox for weeks: "I Found Love." Also, "Some Things Last a Long Time" is also still on the Jukebox I think, if you scroll down the playlist.

I hope everyone listens to the jukebox frequently. It's good for you.

  8. "Second hand ring?" Oh come now, I married a perfectly nice person who had his father mail us his (late) grandmother's diamond, unset, wrapped in tissue and in a blue business size envelope. I was so happy to have it. His mother was upset it had been mailed so simply. On the other hand, he did not ask me for money, just for love and enthusiasm.

  9. The next time Adrian "touches" Teds face, she is going to gouge out his cheek with that ring.

The bad news is Ted used up all his quarters at the gumball machine to get that ring.

  10. In the first panel, Adrian looks like a character in the very first Sims game, after you've forgotten to include a bathroom in the house plan.

  11. Just noticed... did they take off their seatbelts for the ring presentation and then put them back on for the rest of the conversation?

Are they worried about getting rear-ended in their parking spot? Do they just like the artificial feeling of safety that comes from the buckles? Or the genuine feeling of shininess?

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
