I wish I had known this was going on -- I would have stuffed the ballot box!!!
I live near Sarasota and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune is widely available here, but we don't care for it -- we take our own hometown paper. Yes, Sarasota folks are very stuffy and snooty. They just don't know how to have fun!
Oh well, even though our paper (the Bradenton Herald) doesn't carry Mary Worth either (in fact, they have very few daily comics -- talk about crabby!), I'd rather read Mary online anyway -- in color -- plus Mary and her wisdom are there as soon as I get up every morning!
It's still sad to see old familiar favorites go by the wayside. It will be more and more up to us to teach our younger generations the classics.
Sarasota is a town (city? nuh-uh) whose wonderful used bookstores have been replaced by cutsey cafes and Starbuckseses. People in a burg like that can't be expected to appreciate the joy that is Mary.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.

My favorite comment is: "I...enjoy the adventures of Mary Worth and Dr. Morgan. My husband thinks I'm crazy."
ReplyDeleteThat about sums it up.
The paper is axing Mary Worth in favor of it's least popular comic, Cathy??
