Just their luck. When Katie made plans for them to check out some of the piano lounges on board, she could've had her pick between any number of lounges not featuring Esme. Or just super-glued her dressing room door or something.
In between sessions at the Teaching Summit I've taken the liberty of story-boarding the rest of the plot. It involves at least 17 panels of Derek gushing about Esme's talents at the Buffet For Casual Dining, interspersed with increasing eye rolls and passive aggressive nagging from Katie, followed by smoking, followed by a shocking display of extramarital hand-holding interrupted by meddling.
Well said, Ian Cameron, PhD! You touched on what was rambling through my thoughts with regards to this plotline in your super-glue comment. I guiltily am looking forward to Katie's due retribution, though I stop short of any Tonya Harding imagery.
On this 2017 Memorial Day we respectfully and with honor recall those men and women of the armed forces who gave their lives for our country and its freedoms. Wherever you go today and what ever you do, kind Worthians, save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.
Back in the day, each US battleship had its own band. On 6 Dec 1941 the jazz bands from each of the battleships at Pearl Harbor met for a friendly competition. The band from the USS Arizona won - there is a picture of them holding their trophy. The next morning they were all killed. Our community band today play "Elegy for the USS Arizona" to honor them and all of the others who died on 7 Dec and in the time to come.
@eflat, I didn't know that, either, and I studied Pearl Harbor rather extensively as a history major. Such a poignant story from a terribly tragic event. I'll look for the elegy on youtube. Thank you.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
ReplyDelete"And now I'd like to dedicate a song to a special friend who's here in the audience this evening. It's called 'Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.'"
-- Scottie McW.
Between the smoking and the terrible posture, I don't know how she manages to sing at all. Auto-tune? Lipsync?
ReplyDelete"And for my next number, I will sing The Lady is a Tramp."
ReplyDeleteI'm bumming. The version of the strip I'm seeing today left out the part where they started the mud wrestling contest.

@tkraft, thank you for your eloquent reminder about this day.
ReplyDeleteDid the Hoosiers pay an extra fee to always be right up front at the entertainment?
