Excuse me, Dr. Chelsea Mauve. Of what offense, pray tell, does Eve need to forgive herself? Just what are you implying? I don't recall Eve ever saying she did something wrong. She just wondered why she grieved for her abuser. Are you now suggesting she needs to examine past interactions, realize she was an idiot, and forgive herself?

According to Sherwin-Williams, our professional therapist's skin tone is called "Chelsea Mauve!"
Thank you, Dr. Chelsea Mauve, for your kind and compassionate professional platitudes.

I can't tell you how angry this morning's strip makes me. And it isn't just because Eve paid for so-called therapy that she could have gotten for free from Mary Worth. It's because I feel like we are about to start this whole awful mess all over again!!!!

I don't know whose picture that's supposed to be (Jeff? Gary??), but that is the best turtleneck I have ever seen on a man!

Mary, please stop using the word "relationship." Use a word like "friendship," or "association." When you say "relationships" like that, it just sounds creepy. Of course, Mary is in a relationship that is better described as an association, so she really can't help herself.

I know, Mary, it's almost unbelievable. Also, a few WEEKS ago? It couldn't have been that long ago... I mean nothing has happened since, so I assumed it was yesterday or the day before... Let's check. Nope, Max ran away on February 26. Almost a month ago.

Promising of what? Romance? Please, anything but that. I'm happy with the relationship where it is. Emotional support. Dogs. Salmon.

A week ago I was thinking there was light at the end of the tunnel, but here I am still in the tunnel. And the fact that Eve seems to want to stay in the tunnel, and not move toward the light can only mean one thing: Therapy Dog Story starts tomorrow.

I lose track of which panels June Brigman is recycling for this story, but I'm pretty sure this is one of them. I no longer care enough to look it up. I certainly can't blame June for not caring, either.

Greta is like a slinky dog. Even though Saul is short, she can still stretch herself pretty far to lick his face.

Of course it is no justification, but maybe Gary was just sick of listening to Eve talk about Max. In many ways, I blame her for Gary's stroke.

Talk to people? That sounds risky. I think you're probably better off just talking to each other and your dogs. Believe me, as far as therapy goes, Max and Greta already have their paws full with the two of you!

I need to confess something: I hadn't read Mary Worth for two days when I opened this morning's strip. I had a busy weekend. I feel bad because even though I may not post everyday, I certainly understand my responsibility as the World's Biggest Fan to at least read the strip. So I can't tell you how warm and good it felt to read today's opening statement: "When Saul tells Eve that dogs can help us deal with life." It was like being welcomed home by a loyal and loving dog. It just felt so familiar and comforting to know that nothing has changed.

I don't know Saul... I'm not convinced. Is there something you can say or do for the next four months that could persuade me to believe you like dogs?

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Slow down there. This is all happening so fast. Let's just take a seat and breathe... breathe... in... out... in... out... Isn't that better? I'm glad we can support each other like this through all the chaos and neck whipping twists and turns in this crazy plot.

It's been complicated, so allow me to summarize:

Back in January, Saul and Eve took their dogs for a walk on the southern section of the boardwalk.
Then a week later, they went to the mall to buy a birthday present for Saul's other friend. Eve saw a mannequin without a head and started crying a lot.
Saul wanted her to go to urgent care, but she declined although she appreciated his concern. It wasn't Saul - it was Eve.
Eve tripped and then cried again and told Saul a harrowing and lengthy story of being tripped by her angry, cruel husband.
They had lunch, and then Eve remembered, oh yeah, Max the dog saved her life several times, including taking a bullet to the neck at least once. I almost forgot about that. I was too busy living in the present.
And then Max ran away when the thunder sounded exactly like gunfire. But Greta was able to track him down to their favorite spot on earth.
Then they had lunch again.

So that's where we are right now. Any question?

I find it absolutely charming that Greta is repeating herself. Woof. Woof. So appropriate for this comic strip.

At first, I really assumed that it was Mary Worth extending the invitation, but this will be good too. I am sure the conversation will be tantalizing and the food delectable.

Congratulations to Helen Clark for finding Max even before the great tracker Greta! You were right: At the Blah Blah bench! You did it without even sniffing his leash. Deductive reasoning is a powerful tool. Or is it predictive reasoning?

This isn't pathetic at all! Saul prays to God Omnipotent to be spared from anymore Eve Drama... "Please God, Help us find Max, or kill me with a lightning bolt now..."

This story could take a very exciting turn if Greta leads them across the freeway.

Eve has an old hamper of Max's dirty bandanas, and Saul asks Greta to sniff his leash? I don't know. Maybe that would work. But I'm starting to feel like this story might not be very realistic.
