Over the weekend, we learned that Zak is now "working" because "a game" he "developed" is "taking off." Excuse me, but unless the game that this California business student developed is a ten-sided dice game called "MBA Fantasy," he isn't walking to work dressed in a suit, no matter how ill-fitting. (See this article on the Tech Uniform from Business Insider).

I didn't post over the weekend because we were too busy going to Halloween parties and such:

"Gosh, Zak, what are you doing out here in nature?"

"Oh, I love nature. I do nature all the time. It beckons me to live in the here and now. It also helps me to be as predictable as possible, regardless of the odds. I mean what are the chances that we'd run into each here and now? I know, right?"

Well, it appears Zak has moved on, graduated and gotten a job. He must live in some sort of strange alternate universe where time actually moves forward and people stop taking history 101 semester after semester after semester.

Is it nurture or nature that keeps me perpetually repeating my freshman year, and pining away for the men I break up with?

While I agree with Iris in principle, it would still be better than watching Iris mope about the boyfriend SHE BROKE UP WITH!!

It's worse than you think, Iris. Fabiana is taller, has raven black hair, and is dressing a whole lot sexier than you imagine. Also, she's running her fingers through his combover.

I think this Ask Wendy column would be more interesting if there was just one little change to context:

Dear Wendy, Does true love exist?

[Signed, Dr. Jeff Cory, M.D.]

-------------

Dear Jeff,

In our chaotic and unpredictable world, that [you] dare to believe in true love is cause for applause. True love doesn't always appear as we expect it. Sometimes the love that exists in our lives is not romantic, but that doesn't make it less real. We can experience real love for a partner... or for a parent... for a child... for a friend.. for a pet... or for God. When we think of true love, we often think of romance, but we are given more options than that. As we look for true love, let's stop and think about the good things and people in our lives. True love exists if we know where to look for it. [I'm sure you'll find it someday.]

[Signed, "Wendy" aka Not Your True Love]

There were many great entries in yesterday's caption contest, but this morning's last-minute entry by Meg pretty much sums up my feelings today:

Congratulations! Meg, if you have a favorite Halloween song to add to the jukebox for the big blow-out bash at the Charterstone clubhouse, let me know! You've earned it.

Bogota is an inland city. But really, who cares?

Just as a reminder...

...She's talking about Zak.

Not as inevitable as Wilbur and Fabiana's breakup.

Any concerns I had that Pedro and Fabiana were merely grifters looking for an easy mark evaporate when I see the distress in Pedro's eyes as he watches with horror as Wilbur profanes the sensual art of dance. Pedro cares for nothing except the salsa!

I'm thrilled for Wilbur! He's obviously found his soulmate. I haven't seen him this happy since Kurt Evans tried to convince him that Kurt was Wilbur's son. And that turned out great!

WHOOPS! I wrote this morning's post and forgot to upload it to the Interwebs. Here you go:

I'm rarely too dumbfounded for words, but every time I look at Wilbur, I don't know what to say. He looks like a hedgehog next to the Fabiano's.

I just want the salsa lesson to begin!

¡OlĂ©! Or as they say in Colombia, "Hooray!" Apparently.

Just when I thought the Biddies would drive this blog into retirement, Fabiana comes along wearing leopard skin pants! She's wearing leopard skin pants! Please, oh please, oh please let this be a story about Fabiana and salsa dancing!

It's really not that big of a switch since no one can tell the two of you apart. You know what would be a switch? A STORY THAT WASN'T ABOUT THE WESTONS OR THE BEEDIES!!!!

"My dealer knows a few people in Colombia, Ma, if you want me to do sometin'..."

Tommy's last line, "Aw, Ma..." reminds me of a family vacation we took when the kids were younger. We stopped at a gas station in Pennsylvania on our way to Niagara Falls. We started giggling when we saw the name of the station was Wawa. I couldn't stop laughing. The rest of the trip, anytime anyone had to stop to use a restroom, we'd call out, "I have to go we-we at the Wawa, Mama!"

I've since moved to New Jersey, where Wawa's are almost as common as Dunkin' Donuts, and frankly, they're pretty awesome.

Maybe you shouldn't have broken up with him before he went on his trip...? I'm just wondering.

Did you get matching tattoos? Because Iris didn't, you jerk.

Fabiana will fill your life with Fabulousness

I'm not surprised that we've dragged out the assumption that Fabiana is a romantic interest for another day. Won't we feel foolish next week when we find out Fabiana is Bogota's most famous tortilla maker.

Is she 22? Maybe it isn't too late for Iris to go crawling back to Zak.
