Mary Worth 212

Uh-oh. Mary Worth played the "Saved Your Life" card. I just have to say that this is the lamest argument I've ever heard. People who communicate like this really don't deserve a relationship, nor are they truly capable of maintaining one. What happened to the love? (And if you haven't seen the second panel yet, don't miss it!) Is that a slap fight?

I must have missed something along the way, because I thought the whole point of Jeff and Mary's "relationship" was the lack of effort it required. Isn't that what attracts them to each other? Their mutual satisfaction with some hand-holding here, a Bum Boat dinner there, and the occasional joint meddle into a younger person's life?

This is really sad. I'm afraid Ron Amalfi is going to have to meddle in Mary's life to solve this one.

And accepting help is going to be so out of nature for Mary that she is going to stress and start showing her age. Which is what? 100 or so?

Could this be the end?

I really should care! But I just can't find the will.

I'm sure that these two are just "clearing the air".

Run, eff, run!

That should be "Run, Jeff, run!"

D'oh!

I've come up with the Kelrast Scale to measure Mary Worth plots. Read about it here: http://aperfectworld.blogspot.com/2008/05/oh-no-she-didnt.html

Did I miss where Dr. Jeff suddenly changed from a caring, laid-back, kinda bland guy into this aggressive macho jerk? He was perfectly fine with Mary meddling to her heart's content, until it meant a canceled date at the Bum Boat.

I mean, this doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would almost work himself to death at a Third World refugee clinic. This seems more like the kind of guy who would sit in his La-Z-Boy watching football, and demanding that Mary bring him cold beer and snacks. It reminds me of how Lynn Johnston turned Elzabeth's suitors into complete a-holes in order to clear the way for the Triumphant Return of Anthony. In this case, Dr. Jeff's character has to change so that Mary can resume her solo career as Meddler Extraordinaire.

Everybody was kung-fu fighting!

Although that Jeff cat is certainly not as fast as lightning.

See how easily Mary blocks his clumsy throat-chop? If my prayers are answered (and I pray that they are (wait - does that even make sense?)) then tomorrow will see Mary performing a flawless Monkey Steals A Peach on Dr Jeff. If so I hope that he has a needle and thread handy...

I hear that if you turn off all the lights right at midnight, and you light a candle, and you stare into the mirror and say "Amalfi" three times, Donna rises from the dead and tells her adult boys to STFU and get a life.

Plus: You had a choice to post the second panel over this one and you passed it up? That second panel is the most exciting thing to happen in Mary Worth since she meddled an ugly drunk right off the edge of a high cliff at 65 mph!
