Mary might not rat on Nola to the authorities, but you know Toby would. I hope Mary tells her.But this whole situation is so preposterous it's even harder that usual to accomplish a willing suspension of disbelief. Even if it were simple to become vice president by lying about a coworker, would anyone then go and tell a meddling old lady what she did?I think Nola is up to something else. If it involves making Mary look like a fool, I'm all for it, whatever it is.
I must have dozed off. What was the advice Nola needed from Mary?
I love your cartoon but PLEASE make the words DARKER. It is hard to read.
Nutshell - Nola and Mary had the same conversation over and over (I want to show them I'm SOMEBODY, everything you are doing is wrong, I grew up poor, so did I, repeat), but they had them the conversations at multiple restaurants (Luna, Mr. J's, back to Luna), and at different tables within the restaurants (small tables, long tables, etc.), but I never saw them actually eating anything.
Poor Toby. She's got grout all over her left upper arm and a crick in her neck from all that tiling.Oh, lord, now we get to spend another eon listening to Mary recount what Nola "divulged".--Beagle Vet
Hey Mary, would the wrong things for the right reasons be better? How about the right things for the wrong reasons? This is giving me a headache. Also, Mary, there's no need to poke yourself in the eye.
Forget about Nola, did Mary ever get her purse back from those hippies???
I wish we could return to the old posting message where we could designate the next comments could be sent to us, Wanders
When, oh when, will Nola get her comeuppance? She WILL be getting one, right? We aren't just following this for nothing, right? I'm thinking this story will be recaps till at least Easter, then Nola will get her comeuppance, realize the error of her ways, find true love, and we'll be segued into our next storyline... right?
That is an extremely wide sidewalk!
I know, birdie, it's hard to believe that Nola could get a VP position just by lying about a co-worker. But now that she has the job, doesn't she have to actually know something about it? Wouldn't she have to pass her performance review? I agree, this story is so implausible, in so many ways.
Since Nola "hooked" Mary with the 'o,no, my boyfriend may be cheating, i hear you give good advice' teaser, we haven't heard a word about that boyfriend. It's my firm opinion that Mary is being pranked. Nola and Toby are actually close friends- do you really believe that Toby has only one friend? They belong to the Purple Hat club (Red Hat club is for older ladies), and part of the initiation is to feed a line of baloney to a Red Hat member and get her to overreact, have a conniption or a stroke. It's all being played on youtube right this very moment.
Mary is so eager to "divulge" that she doesn't even notice that bit of spittle on her chin.
Toby: "If you can't say something nice about someone, come take a walk with me."
Meg, you might be onto something there. It makes more sense than the story we're being fed. It even fits in with the hapless Mary who forgets her sweater and allows her wallet to be stolen. We're seeing Mary being pranked. The "perfect Mary" veneer is peeling off.
I like how Toby speaks like Yoda here! Hmmm?
