It IS just like Santa Royale... except for one thing...
The hacks have their steering wheels on the right side of the car!
For those of you who are fans of my daughter Maggie, here's a performance from the other night. Had to share.
I've already posted a comment to today's strip, in Friday's comments, but (GAHH) I have to admit that I keep rewriting all the words to this song in my head.It was raining hard in Lloyd NeckI needed one more fare to make the day endA lady at the airport waved to flag me downShe and her imaginary friend.Something about her was familiar,I could swear I'd seen her face before. But she said you look like you're troubled, and then I told her that love was not for me.and so on. I've been doing it all morning. It's a sickness.
So Gina and Bobby became in engaged in Santa Royale, traveled to NY where she currently knows nobody, and THEN decided to hold an engagement party, forcing all of her friends to fly across the country. If she didn't use her spook head to chase them there, most of them would probaby have turned down the invite, and it would be a pretty small party.
I ca't tell which makes me cry more bloody tears: whether it's Mary going on a plane trip to a party she MAYBE knows something about, or the perpetual ponytail pinhead.
If the steering wheel is indeed on the right side of the car, then maybe today's disembodied Gina head is actually a little charm hanging from the rear view mirror -- or an air freshener -- in which case, I totally want one.
Perhaps Bobbygin have invited all those people to Stately Black Manor to give them a timeshare pitch.
Since Gina spent all of her time obsessing about Bobby I don't know that she had ANY "old" friends other than Mary, if she even counts. Doesn't look like any other waitresses from Diner are going. Bobby, however, being a big soccer star, will have dozens of friends, soccer team members, fans, and paparazzi clamoring for his attention at the party. Will Gina even bother to talk to Mary at the party? Will Gina offer to pay Mary back for the big tip? Will Mary end up on TMZ? Or will Mary just talk to the hack in the English cab for the next week and miss the party altogether?
New York has done wonders for Gina. She now looks like Margot Kidder.
Well, it's still partly cloudy with a chance of Gina, even in the cab.@James 11:15 AM - Definitely Margot Kidder.
Did Mary come to town just for the party and then will fly back to Santa Royale immediately after the shindig? She hasn't said a word about where she is staying, unless she is being given accommodations at the palatial Black Blazes Manor. Mary always refers to Gina as a "girl," as if Gina is 11 years old. (Of course, compared to Mary, any female under 55 is a girl.) @James 11:15 AM, great call on Margot Kidder. Maybe Bobby has morphed into Christopher Reeve.
Punky, maybe you can finish the song and Wanders' girl can sing it?@Thorpnotized - cloudy with a chance of Gina, LMFAO!!!I'm quivering with anticipation for this party! Can't wait to find out what the whole point of it is and the inevitable moral lesson that must be learned. Oh, and what Mary will be wearing. My WV is onewted peedis. Huh.
I hope Gina's Disembodied Head gets nominated for a Worth award!
A big deal was made of the fact that Jeff did not come on this trip, and why would he? Does he even know Gina? Mary met her right after turning Jeff's proposal down for the umpteenth time. All of this leads me to believe that Mary still feels she dodged a bullet and she'll probably have an affair with the cab driver.
I'm hoping Gina's eccentricity will strike again, and she'll put disgruntled Hamfist in charge of the gate! "Sorry, lady, your name isn't on the guest list" "B-but I'm Mary Worth, from Santa Royale! Gina invited me!! Please tell her I'm here!""Oh yeah, well sure... I'll give her the message". Back inside the Bobbygin manse..."Hey Bobby, some old broad named Mary Hirth or something was outside the gate just now trying to crash the party... said Gina INVITED her, LOL!! I tell ya', these fans will stop at nothing..." Bobby: "Good call, Hamfist. I don't think we know anyone by that name, do we Gina?"Gina: [shakes her ponytail very eccentrically} "Mary HIRTH?" No, I don't think so. No... that name sure doesn't ring a bell"Bobby: "Thank you, Hamfist for once again keeping out the riff raff."Meanwhile, Mary is still standing outside the gate, her cabby long gone. It begins to rain...
OK, just listened to Maggie's song - wow! What a lovely voice. I'm impressed that she can play and sing so well - you must be awfully proud.
We're all forgetting Mary's Mission in Life -- providing help (whether it's requested, or needed, or not). Who will be her next beneficiary? Someone will turn out to be in need.
Maggie Anderson, what an incredible talent you are! WELL-DESERVED applause! And I just love when you stand up at the end and flash that beautiful smile!
Great video, Wanders. She's very talented!
Gina needs Mary's help. She no longer looks like the girl floating around Mary's head. She is in full-on WAG mode and will need Mary's wise guidance to start looking like a pony-tailed diner waitress again. However, Bobby prefers the "new" Gina and rejects her when Mary gets through deconstructing her. In tears, Gina flies back to Cali with Mary, and Bobby's image floats alongside the plane, surrounded by floating soccer balls.
Great video - nice voice. Interestingly she is wearing a pony tail, was that your idea Wanders?
The floating head panel from 4/26 MUST be a contender for Panel of the Year!I go away for 12 days and so much has happened in the Worthiverse! The BOAC Comet is back, Gins is a disembodied head, Ian is a transvestite, Toby resurrects the playsuit...I can hardly keep up.--Beagle Vet
Lovely girl, beautiful voice. Congratulations on raising a lovely young lady!
What Elaine said about Miss Maggie- and she has a ponytail, too! Congratulations, Wanders.
Wanders - your daughter is very talented!! Thanks for sharing.
Sunday, April 29: First, I must add my "Wow!" after listening to Maggie's song. Thanks for posting it, Wanders. Now, from the sublime to the ridiculous: that mansion looks like it was built out of the wooden blocks our sons played with when they were preschoolers. I hope we find out what friend of Gina's and Bobby's the estate belongs to - perhaps Rupert Murdoch?Mary sure packed light. I can't wait to see what outfit she pulls out of her carry-on.
I'm hoping that the abandoned well in the front yard plays into this story. Perhaps a drunken Hamfist will stumble into it and get stuck. Mary will counsel him about accepting life's problems. He will get totally enraged (who wouldn't?) and Hulk out and destroy the well. Then he'll go inside and dance the hully gully with Bobby's Team Manager's wife.
Mary, I can't believe you're there already either! And today, no "Sunday Summary" of what happened during the past week.Gina is going to let Mary "freshen up". That's the polite way of dealing with her old lady smell after all that traveling.
Sunday's strip shows that this story is unfolding at breakneck speed. I don't think I can take that much excitement! BTW, does Gina's "Ha-Ha" sound a little nervous?
I thought for sure we would see the hack and his steering wheel dancing the tango with "bobble float" Gina in panels 2, 4 and 6! Wow can't believe how fast this is going
