Mary Worth 1,575

I know! I did the exact same thing the first time I asked a girl on a date! I was in high school, and I dialed that phone a dozen times before I actually let it ring. Of course, I would hang up before dialing the last number. Tom Harpman on the other hand is going to see he's had a dozen missed calls from Beth Kinley, which sends a different kind of message. Anyone remember a certain stalker named Liza Colby?

Don't worry, Wanders! That's not a telephone. Beth is just joshing ya!

"Here goes nothing."

Probably the most apt summary of a Mary Worth plot or panel ever.

@heydave--Good one! After all these years, I still remember the melody to that stupid song just from hearing it on the radio. Probably the catchiest riff ever, unfortunately.

After reading today's strip, I'm thinking Beth's romance novels must be downright comical.

"Chapter 1: setting--bland apartment.
"Chapter 2: I picked up the phone again. Phone set back on counter."
"Chapter 3: Phone lost its charge due to constant on/off."
"Chapter 4: recharging the phone."
"Chapter 5: (8 hours later, phone fully charged)"
"Chapter 6: look for phone number."
"Chapter 7: Pick up phone, realize phone number is in the other room; hang up."

Some years ago a friend of mine used 5309 as his 4-digit garage door code. He would say, "Just stand at the door and start singing, and eventually you'll remember the code."

Then there's this:

When Beth finally screws up enough courage to call TOm Harpman, Tom Harpman's visiting mother will hang up on her.

Congratulations to Giella for almost nailing the artwork continuity between today's two panels. If it were not for the differences in the curtain overlap and the size of the window and panes, it would have been perfect. (I can even forgive the slight change in the artwork on the wall.) Keep up the good work, Joe!

Tommy "Tutone" Harpman!

I'm worried about the structural integrity of the Charterstone complex. There's a parasitic plant growing through a crack in Beth's bedroom wall.

My heart can't take this excitement!

What publisher was demented enough to buy one of Beth's romance novels? Just wondering....

Golly, a week of Beth wrestling with the phone - riveting! The climax comes on Saturday, when Elinor forces the phone away from her daughter so she can call CVS with her Metamucil order.

Think of all the material Beth is accumulating for the much anticipated sequel to her romance novel.

So where's Elinor? Still in bed? How many days have gone by?

Beth, walk down the hall and knock on his door. Because "Two doors down there's a party.." and Dolly Parton is right there.
