Okay, first off, you're a TEMP, Dawn. You were supposed to stop working weeks ago when the semester started. And second... well, the secondary stuff makes comparisons to the real world, so they're irrelevant.
Dawn, honey, what’s that coming out of your nose - tar? Maybe Mary has a hankie you can use.
On first look I thought that was a drop of blood below the rose - "Oops, Dawn my dear, watch out for the thorns. In fact, that would be good advice for your (tee hee) 'friend.'"
Even Mary is using quotation marks around "friend". It's obvious that she onto Dawn's ruse. However, I do kinda wish they would stop talking for a second and help that drowning pigeon.
I have been trying all day to find something good to say about Dawn Weston. The best thing I can think of is that she is marginally better than the Tweedlebeedies, and that margin is getting thinner by the day.
No, Delilah, Mary is sans hankie today, but she might just reach up with her designer liver-spot gardening glove and flick that tardrop away.
Oh no, heaven forbid that you lose your temporary job when your dad pays for most of your expenses anyway! Plus, she could go after him for sexual harassment.Dawn seems pretty dense, so I think Mary needs to be a little more direct with her: it's stupid and dishonest to date a married man, and any dude who cheats on his wife, lies about being married, and goes after sub-adult women (isn't Dawn about 19?) is a lecherous pig.
Interestingly, Available Trouble Conscience is what the Japanese call this strip, or at least that has always been my understanding.
Funny how Dawn accelerated to relationship light speed from moping about the loss of her relationship with Dave by binge watching "Game of Thrones" to agonizing about "leaving" Ned...I always thought you could only LEAVE someone if you were either married to or living with the individual. And along the way, she seems to have forgotten the indignation she showed when she ran into Iris stepping out on Wilbur at a dance club with Zak. Thank heaven she has Mary to get her on the right path. She clearly needs all the help she can get..
