Mary Worth 2951

Of course, all of that could change at any moment given the look on Brandy's face. Let's see how things go after Brandy starts taking the bus again.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"Over This Plot! Us! Boring Us Senseless! Yes!".

God second chance!
You!
Turned away good!
Not!

Brandy has this look on her face like "You don't have me anymore, pal."

Nance is very generous to suggest there is a plot somewhere in this story. Also, I am glad to see that she (Nance) is developing her own fluency in the boldface dialect.

The subtle passive/aggressive nature of the Worthiverse has always creeped me out. I am sorry to see that Tommy is carrying it on to another generation. His assertion that he "has" Brandy somehow infers that after hearing Tommy's monologue (that has gone on for days. She must have a sore behind from sitting on that bench so long without commenting...), Brandy HAS to cast aside her own intuition that most likely says to her (judging from the expression on her face) "Run for the hills, girl! You don't need THIS guy in your life!! He just told you about his past without pausing to ask what you think about it... What will the future be like?? 'Want to go to a movie, Brandy? I'm sure you'll agree that I, Tommy Beedie, can pick out a film that you WILL enjoy, because, after all, I will enjoy it.' This will likely BE your life, Brandy, and that's only if he doesn't relapse...Listen to your head, woman. Run!!!" Just trying to gin up some suspense here...OK, I'm done...

The single lesson I've learned from a century of psychology is : We can change our behavior, not our nature.
Tommy has not learned this.
I don't think Karen Moy has learned this.
June Brigman seems to get it.

This is going from dumb to dumberer.

First, I nominate panel 1 for Panel of the Year in the Worthy Awards based on Tommy’s over-the-top over-confidence, shoutout to God, and wind-whipped messy mane. It screams, “Mary Worth - gaaaaa!!!” on many levels.

Second, it appears that Tommy tuned out the humility part of his recovery program. Proclaiming that he’s turned away from drugs and alcohol for good is arrogant.

Third, what in the heck is the Tommy-Brandy relationship based on? Ugh. Tommy may have a job (low level) and Brandy (and I agree with @LouiseF’s discomfort with that assertion), but he still lives with mommy. Will he move into Brandy’s place?

Four, let’s imagine Tommy introducing Brandy to Iris and Amazing Zak. Brandy and Zak are instantly ga-ga over each other and run off together. Yes!!!!

Being somewhat dyslexic, I misread the punctuation in Tommy's first sentence as:" I've turned away from drugs and alcohol for good brandy." I thought Tommy was becoming slightly interesting but then, alas, I reread the sentence and it was the same old Tommy after all.

Tommy looks like he's posing for a Breck Shampoo label.

Tommy looks like he needs some iodine in that first panel.
