Mary Worth 3233

Wilbur is always so cute when he grovels.

Did Wilbur go to the dollar store for plastic roses, or did he pop for the more expensive silk flowers from Michael’s? Wrapping them in a used pillowcase and writing the note on a Post-It are nice touches. Estelle is so dim, though, she’s wondering why the 43rd President is sending her flowers.

If Estelle falls for the roses ploy, she and Wilbur deserve each other.

I previously had a co-worker whose husband frequently sent her flowers at work. Everyone thought that was so romantic of him - what a happy couple. It turned out that Husband was a serial philanderer and sent the flowers to either salve his conscience or stay in his wife’s good graces (we were never certain which - maybe both). So, if someone says it with flowers, be careful when judging what’s being said.

Hoping Estelle remember getting roses from Arthu/er..My fantasy: Wilbur goes to empty his trash and sees his bouquet on top of the garbage.

LOL LouiseF, my thoughts exactly. Better still, Mr. Allora is taking out the trash and they're sitting right on top of the garbage heap.

Wow Wilbur, needy much? You were in Mozambique for three months and didn't give her the time of day while you were there, you come back and make a complete fool f yourself and now you're groveling. I'm with everyone: if Estelle takes this loathsome loser back, she deserves everything she gets. Watch for Estelle and Mary commiserating over muffins and Mary telling Estelle that Wilbur will grow on her is she takes him back (like a fungus.)

Even Libby is thinking that Estelle is a moron if she falls for Wilbur's foolishness again.

This is no time to go wobbly, Estelle.

Hat Tip the The Comic Curmudgeon. Wilbur tried the roses thing with Iris two years ago this time. I guess this means we can expect another Wilbur romantic failure in November 2021!

I wonder if he sent a bouquet to Zakiris, he certainly owes them an apology for his boorishness. And, no, do not give W a second chance. Go adopt a few more cats and move on.

If Estelle does let Mary talk her into another dive in the dumpster, it has to end with Wilbur slobbering over Iris. So why not?

Has Wilbur apologized? Has he admitted he's an idiot? If he has I've missed it.

He apologized yesterday, and asked to make amends. Estelle told him to leave her alone.

If Estelle takes Wilbur back, it will prove for once and for all how desperate she is for a man, any man, because no woman is complete without a man, any man. Doesn't matter if he's a beater, a cheater or a molester, gotta have that man. Excuse me while I go vomit now.

@Downpuppy, she didn't exactly tell him to leave her alone. She told him she wanted to take a break and needed space. A subtle distinction, perhaps, but I feel like what she said leaves the door open. Saying, "Leave me alone!" is much more definitive, and what I was hoping she would say. This is one door she should not be leaving open. I like the "roses in the dumpster" idea, personally.

Do you think we're supposed to be rooting for her to take him back? Mary was encouraging their relationship, which makes me think Moy expects us to be saying, "Aw, don't be so hard on poor Wilbur. He's quirky and endearing." And I can't tell if Libby's expression says the same thing, or if it's saying, "You won't fall for that again, will you?"

So many questions.

Checking in on Tuesday:
Just pointing out, last week, Wilbur referenced "The Matrix," a 1999 film, toward the end of the delightfully disastrous double date. Now he's sliding back another decade to "Say Anything," from 1989. Any guesses for 1979?

katyb,

"Kramer vs Kramer" as they fight over Libby? "Alien", as Wilbur's five star dinner gives him severe heartburn?

"The Warriors?" EsteeEEeeelle! Come out to PLaaaAAAAAyyyy! <klink, klink, klink).

I think "The Jerk" would be the best allusion.

Wow, looking back at the films on 1979, I think the only one I saw was "Moonraker." I was 12.
