I've had trouble blogging for a few days. Suddenly, my life just felt so much more important than Iris's thyroid condition. But I was so looking forward to waking up this morning and seeing what new adventure Karen Moy had come up with for us.
Isn't it wonderful to know that for the next four months we're going to watch Dawn stare at her laptop? But I will miss Joe Giella's computer renderings:

OH NOOOOOO!!!! Dawn, Hugo, and Wilboor were the last people I wanted to see!!!
At first I figured this was yet another manifestation of KM’s lack of imagination and intellectual (ha!) laziness. Now I’m thinking that any new characters and former regulars, I.e., any non-Weston or non-Beedie, are boycotting the strip. Even they are embarrassed to be associated with KM. The Camerons, Mr. Allora, Ken Kensington, Dear Old Shelly Cohen, and others are sitting around complaining and making snarky remarks. Just like we devotees of MW&Me....
And the 49ers fans think THEY have something to gripe about this morning?

What KitKat said. Exactly. And in addition, who says anything like “My dear Hugo”? In the 21st century? Perhaps she’s translating from the French?

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Wanders. I don't think there was anyone who could make sitting at a desk look more painful than our Uncle Joe. Miss you Joe!

Okay, so where's this going?
Hugo and Wilbur disliking each other with Dawn caught in the middle?
Hugo breaking up with Dawn online just like Wilbur dumped Iris?
Hugo, Wilbur, and Zak becoming soccer best buds?
Hugo outraging Wilbur by poking fun at the United States?
Wilbur outraging Hugo by poking fun at France?
So many boring avenues for this story line to plod.

Dawn (rhymes with "yawn") will be planning her spring break with Hugo while Wilbur looks on. I look forward to a week of robust discussion about which flight will fit her schedule. Hint: it's the one that offers the most opportunities to imbibe champagne...
WHen I saw today's strip I went "Not Dawn and Wilboor again. NOOOOOOOO!"
Did the rest of the people move out of Charterstone and all that's left are Wilboor, Dawn, Estelle, Iris and Mary? I've had just about enough of Wilboor and Dawn. I agree with you fauxprof, who even says things like "my dear Hugo" unless you're emotionally stunted like Dawn.
I would even go for a story on Mr. Allora, but he seems too normal. I wish Mary would go back and visit little tummy brain or break Ken Kensington's heart again.
I want Hugo to see Wilbur and go "oh mon dieu, ton père est si laid et chauve. I just remembered, I have some crepe Suzettes on the stove that are going to burn. Au Revoir." And that's the last she ever hears from her "dear Hugo."
Along your line of thinking Regina W-P, I'm hoping that because English isn't Hugo's first language, maybe he's a little confused when he remembers hearing or reading that you can tell pretty much what a woman will look like as she ages, by looking at her father. I want him to scream like a girl and then disconnect.

It is kinda sad...I often looked forward to new characters moving into Charterstone or the off-handed way we readers would be introduced to them (a bump in a cafeteria line? a parking lot kerfluffle? Dropped item in a grocery store?) In particular, the timing seemed about right for a new romantic interest for Mary, or at least a pool party. D-yawn and Wilburr again....not so much and frankly a great disappointment.
Wait. So Hugo went from being an exchange student/house painter to graduating college and starting a job in sales? It really is different in France. Maybe Hugo's company gets an option on Wilboor's column and Hugo reads the column and turns it down? For the next three months we will have to put up with Dawn deciding to side with Daddy or Hugo and Mary will interfere with platitudes and muffins.
I guess Hugo sells French encyclopedias...maison to maison.
Wilboor has been back home for some time, so why hasn’t he “met” Hugo by now? I figure Dawn (or “D-yawn” - props to @LouiseF and @tkraft!) tries to stay in constant contact with Hugo. Yuck.
