Mary Worth 3668

Earlier this week, we discussed some of the historic sybolism of circles and squares in ancient religions and cultures. Today we will discuss the deeply meaningful symbolism of blondes and brunettes: Blondes good; Brunettes evil.

rrr-rrr-iii-iii-ppp-ppp!! For a second or two, Drew is immobilized; mortified that the bean burrito he had for lunch has “repeated” itself! But, thank God! He looks down and sees that it was only the Velcro that holds his lab coat together letting go!

Look! Shauna is slowly morphing into a Chucky doll before our eyes!

There is so much symbolism in Dr. Drew's dream. Being in between two times: the past, and known, in Shauna, and the future, and unknown, in Ashlee. Look at how Shauna is trying to pull Drew from Ashlee with little regard for his shoulder. Drew appears to be trying to repel Shauna, while Ashlee holds more gently, but just as strongly, to Drew's arm.
Shauna's stance is as an aggressor trying to claim the prize, in contrast Ashlee leaning back indicates an unsureness in her claim.
Drew himself shows signs of indecision. Holding Ashlee closer, but looking deep in Shauna's eyes. The background emphasizes the surreal nature of the entire encounter.
Or, I have too much time on my hands and am overthinking the whole thing. Can someone please help me?

This is just like “Swan Lake,” with Odette, the white swan, battling Odile, the black swan, for the affections of the feckless prince. Or maybe it’s like “Bewitched,” with Samantha and Serena….

Sorry, Thunderheels, there is no hope for you. You are suffering from Searching-for-Meaning-in-the-Worthiverse Syndrome, which, in the long run, is a terminal affliction.

Thanks, Vince. It has been nice knowing all of you. Maybe Dr. Jeff can let me know how much time I have.

Disappointed these gold diggers don't have ink. Ashlee seems like she would have the Chinese characters that don't actually spell anything. Shauna would have "Just Breath", probably inside her wrist where that rash is.

Dawn would NEVER show up in his dream.

Is there any significance to the fact that Shauna Of The BrainDead has morphed into a six year old girl in Panel Two of Drawing’s dream?

Speaking of symbolism, today's strip is evocative of some scenes painted in the Sistine Chapel.

(Yikes! Thunderheels, if you get a referral, pass it on.)

Made of Wince pointed out on the Comics Curmudgeon blog today that now Dr. Drew will be able to wear a lot more rolexes.

It's like Swan Lake, but instead of a black swan and a white swan, it's two angry, shreaking gulls.

I wonder why he doesn't dump them both and look for a girlfriend who doesn't show up at his workplace to throw tantrums.
