After the diving resort escapade, frankly this level of garden-variety fluster is getting more and more banal. I can't see where this storyline is going. Is Mary going to diagnose him with an autism spectrum disorder as an explanation for him not reading social cues? Pretty absurd and lamentable if so.
How can Dawn have a side job when she doesn’t have a main job? As for growing up so fast, she’s been hanging around at The University Community College of Santa Royale for what seems like 14 years with no sign of choosing a major, graduating, and finding full-time employment. BTW, is Jared still in the picture?
Judging by his demeanor yesterday and today, Chinbeard has started smoking his Astroturf sports coat instead of wearing it.
"Speaking of changes" leaves open so many possibilities. Is Wilbur testing out if Toby is of an age he could hit on? Is he inquiring if they are moving? Is he asking if she is leaving Ian? Or, most disgusting, is he trying to determine if she is about to hit menopause? With Wilbur, the possibilities are mind-boggling.
How horrified was Dawn by the prospect of attending a party at Ian and Toby's, and how desperate was she to have an excuse to avoid it? Well, she rushed out and grabbed the first job she could find.
@Ian Cameron, PhD, I had the same thought you did. I suspect that Moy is planning to make everything good again with Wilbur by labelling him as autistic.
I sure as hell hope not... it would be truly disgraceful to take this insanely stupid storyline and nonsensical character and try to make it all hang together, or even worse, to try to dignify it (bleecchh) by representing this, this... rather disgusting self-pitying stalker, sexual harassing, substance-abusing, delusionally narcissistic, undoubtedly tuneless a crapella singing bore of a blobby man as somehow explained by a unifying diagnosis which has in reality, zero to do with any of the behaviours or attributes of people with autism.
But I am afraid that disgraceful shorthand psychological shorthand is exactly what is headed our way, with smarmy self-flattering nuggets of compassion and carrot muffin tops orbiting Mary's empty head.
BTW, has Ian Cameron has had a Maryface transplant?
Dawn had that internship in Arizona, but came home after her dad partied on an island for a week without calling.
But I'm guessing Wilbur is the kind of disengaged parent who just says these things with no concern for their accuracy or truthfulness. Dawn could be a powerful attorney (which would explain her moving out) and he'd still say "she's at her side job."
Honestly, asking a person her age is nothing compared to other stuff he's done: driving drunk, humiliating his girlfriend, groping his ex-girlfriend, stalking his ex-girlfriend, threatening to kill his girlfriend's pets, and letting his daughter think he's dead. I don't know why Mary looks so shocked.
I will scream if this turns into an autism story line. He's a selfish jerk. That has nothing to do with autism.

Toby is turned on by Wilbur's rudeness and is going to leave Ian for him. Maybe that's where this is heading.

Uh, Wilbur? You're kid has not "grown up so fast"...I'm on pins and needles waiting for tomorrow's strip...
Is there a secret message today? I can't see it.
Also, Wilbur, you suck.
Dawn's side job was an urgent need not to be wherever Wilbur was.
So, Wilbur being an intolerable jerk continues to be the plot line. Maybe Moy is waiting for one of us to bump him off.

Ole Grumpy
Toby's response should be, "I'll tell you my age if you tell me your weight." It won't be, but it should be.
I don’t think it will be autism. My money is on Tourette Syndrome.
Hey Wilbur. Until a person has a fulltime job, and is living on their own, they are not grown up
That's Our Wilbur! ®
Toby appears much younger that Dawn....by several years.
