Why did Mary say “she”? As some of the readers of this blog have speculated, maybe Mary and Helen Moss really are acquainted. Charter members of the Santa Royale Meddlers Circle?
The photo of the woman (looks like Dawn) on the end table was not there yesterday.
Kit Kat- good catch. Perhaps Mary is slowly revealing her past successes in meddling. Mary's look in panel two is interesting. It is as if she were causualy mentioning Ian's past encounter to see how Toby would react.
Ah, the inherent sexism of the Worthiverse manifests in KitKat's noticing Mary's assumption that the person threatening to report Toby is a woman. It's always 1962 in Mary's world.
If I remember correctly, one of Mary’s New Year resolutions was to be more kind. By reminding Toby of Ian’s experience, is Mary suggesting that maybe Toby’s student is also simply pretending an interest in her but is in truth, only hoping for a good grade? Not very nice, Mary. You could find yourself finally having to wash that purple cowl sweater after Toby flings her pie at you.
