Mary Worth 239

This looks familiar,
Vaguely familiar,

Almost unreal yet,
It's too soon to feel yet,

Close to my soul, and yet,
So far away

I'm going to go back there someday.

Poor, poor, POOOO-OOOOR weeedle Mary! Good thing she didnt pick up that phone when Dr. Jeff phoned! Now she can just make like she's "returning Jeff's call" without Jeff knowing she decided to catch him on the rebound--until Mary and Jeff run into Ron and his new lady friend at La Rosa, to which Jeff has dragged Mary, since she has developed a taste for better food items than those served at the ol' Bum Boat.

I can hardly wait!

Wow...Ron is cheating on Mary! I totally did not see that coming...

Finally, finally, the time has come for Mary to recieve the comeuppance she so richly deserves...it's been a long time coming, but, rest assured, gents, it's going to be great. Is this the best story ever, or what?

Of course, now that we've gotten all excited, who's willing to bet that it turns out that Ron is not cheating on Mary, and she just gets back with Jeff anyway? It wouldn't be the first time Karen Moy has found the least-interesting and most anti-climactic way to end a story...

But still...it can't hurt to hope, can it?

Oh, don't get your hopes up. This is Mary Worth, after all. I'm sure Ron really does have an emergency town meeting to go to. Possibly some emergency related to stray dogs allowing us to see Chester again. That should take about a week's worth of strips.

eats: The "Love of Chester" story arc was remarkably short and sweet. Perhaps Mary will reconnect with Chester's owner, now that she has been dumped by both Jeff and Ron.

Ron is embroiled in important downtown revitalization work... let's just hope the next panel we see isn't poor Jeff whose hanged himself at home.

anon---listen, call me jaded, but lately I've become SO dismayed with the loads of wood that populate MW, I'm ready to even sacrifice a small animal (thinking Chester), if I must, just to make the kind of panel you suggest happen!

Regarding Dr. Drew Corey: (1) What about his patients? Are they still in the waiting room in hopes of his keeping their appointment? No responsible physician leaves their patients waiting as long as Dr. Drew Corey has. (2) Drew and his sister Adrian are worthless. Neither expressed any concern when their dad was in Viet Nam -- Peace Village -- and out of contact with the free world. Were they hoping he would not return so they could take over the clinic? (3) Why no mention of Dr.Drew's Peace Village activities? Hmmm. Has he met with Dr. Tran yet? He has been there for several months and absolutely not a peep out of him. Their dad should disinherit both of them.
