Mary Worth 255

Jeff: Run. For. Your. Life! In some sort of insane rage, Mary Worth has stuffed every single one of her knives into the toaster. Then, grabbing the last knife and waving it menacingly, she has one thought: "Jeff and I need to 'talk.'" Run, Jeff, run! And whatever you do, don't eat her seafood scampi unless she takes the first bight!

Love the color scheme. Pale pink, pale orange, pale white countertops, pale pasty-faced old Mary. Only the 80s faux-hipster T-shirt stands out in this sea of beige. That and the knife are your clues that Mary is ready for a little action -- intimate or homicidal. Or possibly both. Black T-shirt = black widow???

Shades of the Rev. Jessie Jackson's recent "cutting" remark?

wanders: I had the same "Mary the Ripper" thought when I saw the first panel as well [Hmmm...how fast will Jeff die if I stab him at this angle? Which is better--back or front? Oh, the decisions, decisions, decisions!] At least Mary put down that knife as she (presumably) heads for the phone. Don't pick up your phone when it rings, Jeff! Mary's "mood shirt" has changed color in Panel II--definitely not a good sign, I'm sure!

This week's installment has been very ragged. I'm beginning to suspect that Moy wants to have us believe that Mary and Jeff have been apart for weeks or (Shudder!) months. Guess we"ll find out in the next couple of days.

What is the deal? From pannel one where the tee shirt as morphed into a pink and black version of the seal of South Carolina then to pannel 2 where we're back to two trees but the color has changed! Maybe spike is right her shirt's palm trees are turning white to match the white hot rage burning inside Mary's soul.

I have to say, I think you're seriously understimating Mary here. Mary doesn't have to use KNIVES to do her dirty work (that's far too quick and painless)...no, you see, she means it when she says they're going to talk. When Mary's done with Jeff, whatever small shreds of dignity and self-respect he had left will be long gone, ground into the dust... poor man.

Macon, I don't know about Reverend Jackson or Hagee or whatever, but can we agree that Dr. Jeff is who McCain had in mind when he wisely called us recession-addled Americans all a "nation of whiners"?

anon,
I can go there with you, but his (McCain) desired cure, as far as
I know, does not involve the removal of certain, umm... parts. But I think there is a good case for arguing that Dr. Jeff may have already had his removed a long time ago...by Mary! I'll say no more.

Macon, all I know is that American politics needs a "wider course of antibiotics".

Why isn't Ron putting Mary's skills to good use as his political adviser? She could nag and meddle his opponents down to wet matchsticks by noontime.
