Where's the Bun?

Wanders is camping with his lovely family this week and will return shortly.

In the meantime, I wanted to leave you with this observation: I've always assumed that Mary Worth wears her hair in a bun. However, I've been watching very closely the past few weeks, and from whatever angle I stand, I just can't seem to glimpse Mary's bun.

It's some sort of weird, freaky, rotating hair style. No doubt it travels just like [spoiler alert!] the island in "Lost." Her hair seems to be pulled so tightly that it actually enters the back of her skull.

Wanders is right! It is an Invisi-Bun perhaps using some sort of DARPA stealth technology...

Perhaps buns are simply too difficult to draw?

I hope you will all be happy campers.

the hairstyle Mary is sporting is a French Twist.

Hmm... I assumed French twist at first, too, but a French twist doesn't look identical from both sides - there should be a sort of "seam" visible from one side. Also, the idea of Mary Worth with long, thick, flowing locks (at least, long and flowing enough to make a bun or French twist) makes me want to throw up a little in my mouth. I choose to believe that she's just sporting a short, sensible 'do that she "backcombs" in the front and along the top to give it that bit of lift, bobby pins into place, and then lacquers with copious amounts of Aqua Net. You just know that hair is like a wispy, white helmet.

Drat! OK, evryone. Go to Google and enter the search ["mary Worth" traansform] in the box.

Look for links to thedailycartoonist.com and http://www.ajc.com/living/.
.. The second link ends content/living/stories/0825LVMARY.html

Apologies for the earlier bad links.

Mary Worth sports a variation of Texas big hair as exemplified by the late Texas Governor Ann Richards

Google images of Ann Richards

There is no bun, just hair combed in an upward manner and sprayed heavily to keep the hold.

Mary has the CLASSIC old lady short hair. Old ladies go one of two routes hair wise: very long, always a bun/braid type combo, haven't had anything done to their hair for at least 30 years. Then there are the old ladies who keep their hair very short and get a permanent and a haircut every month (ie my Grammy). Mary Worth is TOTALLY the latter. It's a sort of pompador, and the back has layers falling towards the center line, ala a duckbutt. I am honestly shocked that people think differently.

I don't care if I can see her bun or not... I just don't want to see her buns

Mary's got Anmie hair, apparently. Not the huge Super-Saiyan style though that would be sweet), but the identical style. Light from Death Note exemplified this, his hair was always combed towards the camera. There's a joke on this in DA somewhere, I just can't be bothered to find it.

yes! toonhead, that is what I envisioned too, my google search wasn't as fruitful. Mary uses a can of hairspray, and always has, ozone be damned.
