Good point, Mata Hari.
I'm quite impressed with Lynn's ability to resist Mary Worth's power. Sadly, in panel two, Mary Worth transfigures her face to appear as Lynn's mother, thus eliminating any hope Lynn has of avoiding Mary's destructive influence.
If you're on Facebook, you can become a fan of Mary Worth and Me on their blog network. Once we get 15 fans, they'll start posting the feed from this blog so do me a favor and sign up.

I love the look on Mary's face in the second panel; "Mother? I'm hardly old enough for that, my dear. Older sister perhaps."
Joined!!
So, did Vera/Lynn actually shred Frank's peace offering or something else? It kind of looks like Frank's thought bubble from the other day which is probably why we were shown it but MW contains so many generic patterned things it's hard to say ...
All thought bubbles shred the same.
"Yes, you remind me of Mom, who also had 'that way about her." You know, like the icy hand of death – but somehow with a three-foot hickory stick up its posterior." Mary, of course, recoils from any comparison to the human meat-puppets she so clearly disdains.
But you have all been misled, people: that is not the scarf in her hands. Giving the scarf to Lynn was MARY'S IDEA. The giving must be shown, preferably over al least 17 panels. It has to work!! It must produce Tears and Reconciliation and Lessons Learned By All.
Oh Mary, Mary: You have such a way of knowing!
Does anyone know who Lynn's stylist is? I really love that square looking ponytail she has going on. Maybe that would work with my hair.
Wanders, unless you're accusing us--or Mary--of being ursine, your might want to change that Facebook entry from "grizzly" to "grisly." Terrific idea, I'm all signed up.
If I might make a suggestion for the jukebox- Billy Joel's ''She's Got a Way About Her'' would be perfect!
The giving of the scarf to Lynn will be the highlight of this story line. Her mother would want that, who also had that way about her.
Lord, did Mary pack a steamer trunk of cloging for this little trip to Lake Tranquil? Her baggage charge must have been higher than her first class ticket
So Mary reminds Lynn of her mother. As I recall, when Frank told mary his wife had passed on, Mary told him she was sorry. Frank said "Don't be". Now we know why.
Next week, Frank gives Lynn the scarf. Lynn freezes with disdain. "I hate scarves! You know that! They remind me of mother and make me sad!" And she tears it to shreds.
Bear with me as I only follow this strip when Comics Curmudgeon mentions it, but is Lynn the same character that had a domineering brother a while back? She sure looks like her.
My apologies if this has been rehashed over and over again.
Anon, you're confusing Lynn with Vera. But that's okay. So does the artist.
Curses on you Von, I mean, Frank!
Are we still taking bets on Lynn's long program music?
I say she's supposed to skate to that Yiddish favorite, "O, My Papa." But at the last minute she rushes over to the PA system and makes a defiant substitution: "Footloose." She skates as never before, the ghost of her mother smiling down. The crowd goes insane. Heidi/Liesl lodges a formal complaint. The judges agree, regretfully, that Lynn has to settle for the silver. She shrugs it off, though the arena resounds with angry "boos" throughout the medal ceremony. Heidi/Liesl retires from skating a broken hull of her former self. Frank Learns a Valuable Lesson. Mary, of course, takes the credit.
And I think we're all just a little better for it, don't you?
