Mary Worth Adventures #429

Actually, Frank, it's not like riding a bicycle at all. Trust me on this.

I'd like to thank Karen Moy for telling us all about the endless freedom of ice skating. Rather than showing us. Perhaps tomorrow the choreographer will stand on the sidelines and narrate for us: "Mary is skating with a sense of FREEDOM I've never seen before! The wind is in her hair as she skates over the flow of ice! Her grace is remarkable. For a woman of advancing years, she looks as though she's twenty again! She must have been quite a skater in her youth!" But I don't blame Karen Moy for treating her readers like idiots. What else would explain why we read this strip?

Only women wear WHITE skates! So why is Frank lacing up a pair of women's skates? Are they Lynn's skates? And WHY is Mary holding her head that way--is she dizzy? We need to know these things.

That sure does sound like fun- skating, for the first time in ages, under the watchful, critical eye of Frank. Is he going to be yelling at her the whole time?

I'd give anything if Frank started criticizing Mary's rusty skating prowess.

I can't wait for Mary to get back to Charterstone so she can go for a walk with Toby Cameron and we can have a Flashback tale of Mary Worth and Frank Griffith in the olden days, flowing over the ice together with the wind in their hair! Perhaps their relationship ended because Frank was already bullying people over their skating technique! And then Mary can give Toby weight-loss tips.

Mary is dizzy. All she had eaten in these past three months, er three days, is Tang, smushed peas and enough Swiss Miss to put her in the diabetic ward.

I love this strip and Wanders.

I think Frank's white skates perfectly match his stunning fashion sense.

The last storyline before this--was it the identity theft marathon? It seems so long ago. Mary Worth is slowing down time again.

Ooh, Wanders, you are so prescient! What a lovely pair. I wish I still ahd my skates -- but they wouldn't fit now. The freedom, the coolness of the ice as the air lifts up off the surface.
