so her sister is Ayn Rand? what else could explain the mid-century modern?

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing these old "comic" strips--I love them! I spent part of last summer rereading the original (1930s) Nancy Drew books and these strips remind me of those in a way. Rock on, my friend.

Holy crap, a liking for mid-century modern is an indication of a troubled mind? THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH.

I'm struggling to see what's supposed to be so ''wrong'' with Margo's room. Also- being that these strips are from 1949, it wouldn't have been mid-century modern, then- just ''modern'', I guess! I haven't even met Margo yet, but I think I'm going to like her. I shall call her Thoroughly Modern Margo!

Likewise, I am wondering what ominous takeaway feeling should I have gotten from "that" room.

I'm more creeped out that Mary gushes over a boring room in the first shot, and even moreso that the little gremlin kid has been sent to tag along with her.

Is anyone else tired of these old strips?

I'm guessing her sister is the Margo who eventually moves out and into Apartment 3G?

Margos room, is very modern. Poor Mary must be having a stroke.

Robert: I was thinking the same thing. Margo longs for the modernity of the city.

Stunned that old-school Mary is gushing at all. A flash of what Mary will be in the 21st century.

These old strips are a hoot!

I'm loving these old strips from the "SR Historical Society"! I think Nancy is drawn quite nicely. She is really pretty, and my goodness, look at the details of her hair style! No lazy, phone-it-in ponytail drawings for this artist! Joe G. should take some notes!

loving the old historical Mary Worths, MW back in the day was one *seriously* meddling old biddy. I think she's gone a bit soft and new age of late.

Mind you, I don't know what's wrong with the room. It's neat? Minimalist? Is minimalism a symptom of an unbalanced mind? And will MW insist on "prettying" it up? Whatever happens, *she'll* find a way to meddle somehow...

I don't blame Mary for being disturbed. The very idea of having one of those cheap plastic and aluminum fold-out lawn chairs in your BEDROOM (see last panel). The tawdriness of it all!!!
