Oh God, old Mary, smirk at me ... yeah, just like that. Now, remind me of your smug superiority ... oh yeah ... just like that.

Now frown ...

Wait - are those three panels all part of a contiguous storyline? I feel like I'm reading Gil Thorp.

I'm sorry, I must be dense. "Your flight is canceled, if you get what I mean." What other meaning can there be? Or is that some sort of now-defunct 1949 jargon that today's yougsters (I'm 68) don't understand?

I'm too young to have ever heard a gentleman call his wife "mother" in real life.

So I'm left wondering which component of that scene most embodies the essence of 1940's Hollywood; the child-actress of stunted growth, the words "Hello Darling" from a man wearing a rope belt, or a young woman's passionate and amorous reaction to the older woman's news of deception and death.

I can't help but notice that it's screamingly obvious that Mary has had a full face lift, botox and lipo, since 1949!

I just noticed that Mary is carrying the future horror film star, "Chucky" in the first panel!

Oh dear lord, now what problems will the vapidly handsome Dr Roberts present to Mary?

You know, thinking back, I rediscovered Mary Worth a few years ago during a long story line which had something to do with Wilbur being pursued by a "femme fatale", maybe Toby's sister?, and his daughter had to get her out of the way. It was somewhat clever, as I remember, and certainly more interesting than anything Moy has given us since. Anybody else remember that story line?

Boy, would I love for Dr Roberts' "problem" be that he's a closeted-gay with a crush on Jeff Corey. Something somewhat interesting and off-beat would be nice...but not likely.

@tuffenuf -- "Mother" has a bit of a Chucky-esque expression herself, frankly.

LOL! If Doc Roberts DID have a crush on Jeff, Mary would stage an Aldo Kelrast style intervention, including plenty of booze, a car with no brakes, and a winding mountain highway afterward. You don't mess with Mary!
