Mary Worth 814

Despite her tears, Jenna is so unimpressed with Mike's email that her pony tail retracts into her head like the electric cord on Mom's old vacuum.

Well, suffering the consequences of being abandoned by his father is, strictly speaking, being "involved in a family situation." How untrusting of Jenna to doubt him!

I find telling sorta-lies always leads to a more empathic outcome.

At least she's not downing a fifth of bourbon. At least, for *now*...

Is it just me, or are Dr Mike (good twin with brown hair / evil twin with dark hair) and Jenna a pair of total emotional cripples? Mary, why are you *encouraging* them? Really, people like this should not be raising children!

She's like the Crissy doll! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-W5lqv3zFlw

Maybe it's because I'm such a cynical old biddie- or maybe it's because... sob, sniffle ...Daddy didn't love me enough!- but I'm still finding it hard to believe that two 30something professionals would be hung up like that, after ONE date! I realize that in the lightening-paced world of Mary Worth, there are rigid time constraints, so maybe it wasn't feasible to show Mike & Jenna on a few dates, maybe even a whirlwind romance.

I'LL CALL WHEN I CAN.

Sincerely,
Dr. Mike Roberts

P.S. It's not you, it's me.
P.P.S. Are you my dad?

An honest email: "Sorry Jenna. I've been emotionally crippled. Unable to love. No hope. Will call when things lighten up."

Good one Jared.

I like the latest Moy/Giella effort to show that they're current on technology...Dr. Mike sending an e-mail from (gasp) his Phone?! You can do that now?

And come on Dr. Mike, it isn't a family situation; you have no family. Remember, your father won't see you. Oh, sorry....

Is Jenna using the Library as her "office" now? The fees from Bonnie?--her one and ONLY client--just aren't enough to pay the rent on her old place? I wonder where she'll display her giant wall charts. I don't suppose the librarians will give her permission to tape them to the wall.

Wondering...if fatherless Kurt Evans became a patient of Dr. Roberts, do you suppose he could even get a word in edgewise?

I like "I'm really sorry you haven't heard from me."

Because, it's, like, totally bizarre that through no fault of his own, Mike's thoughts about Jenna somehow haven't been communicated to her. It's like saying "I'm sorry you feel offended."

Don't buy it Jenna! He's a jerk!

Jenna's scrunchie seems to absorb and release hair periodically. Perhaps hair accessories (Delilah's headband did the same thing) in Mary Worth act as indicators of emotional vulnerability and withdrawal.

I like that Jenna and Mary seem to order their sherbet-colored suits from the same master tailor. Does anyone is MW ever wear basic black?

oops... "in MW," not "is MW."

OH I see! It's Mike's father that is gay!?

Jay said...

I didn't think they HAD gay people in Santa Royale. Oh well, at least the gay people they have appear to be slovenly, and bad at arranging furniture, so they don't promote a positive image or anything.

Actually, you can easily send an email from your phone now.

Hmm...This IS a new development! Mike's father's roommate seems pretty macho- But the pink priscilla drapes, that rather fabulous mid-century modern lamp & artsy-fartsy end table tell quite a different tale! Unless, Mike's father is Felix Unger!

Chester (lovin Liza) said...

Sooo....Dr. Mike knows his fathers boyfriend (slob) better than he knows his father. Do they sit arount that dump and play Liza records when Dad is gone? I like where this may be headed! (But we all know it won't)

Vicki (where's muh beer?) said...

Oh my gosh! Is that a beer!? And a cigarette!? Obviously these people are TRASH, TRASH I say! Seeing this could scare and/or scar the children!
(Holding out hope that MAYBE that's a cola can, but... oh, dear, somehow I'm thinking the worst.)

Poor Mike still hasn't figured it out. Fred is his dad and "Lonnie" will never be home.

Jared said...

The odds may not be that great, but I would love to see this drama result in a punch to someone's face.

One date and this crazy-a** woman is crying over the guy? Junior High is so hard.

duckdg said...

It can be tough, changing your facebook status from "in a relationship" to "it's complicated".

I bet Duckdg is right about Lonnie being the father..hmmm, Lonnie, Lnnie..Bonnie? Oh so clever.
