Mary Worth 822

"...That's not entirely true, Mikey; I was also thinking of my girlfriend, Barbara Thomas and her little girl Jenna. I married Barbara, God rest her soul, and we had 20 wonderful years before she passed. We raised Jenna together - we were the happiest family. No little girl has had a better father than Jenna. I wish you could meet her. She would love you like a brother."

Now they look vaguely like "Cheers"-era Ted Danson and Jimmy Stewart at the lowest point of "It's a Wonderful Life."

Long-lost siblings???? Mr. Wanders, thanks not at all for that disturbing image!

I think that 'Lonnie' is actually a self portrait of Giella.

I have to follow this stuff more closely. Every damn time I look at new scenes, the characters are confusingly different. Why do they keep changing the cast?

And the old dude is STILL making with the shaky lines...

I smell a clue!

heydave, the anwswer to your question is because no one is in charge of continuity. lol

"I left you and your Mom so you wouldn't have to deal with my Parkinson's disease." With that we would have the possibility to be educated about a serious illness and the importance of "sticking with the ones you love" through thick and thin. Well...I'm just trying to make some sense out of all this.

"That's not entirely true, Mikey. I thought about you and yer mom once in a great while but mostly I thought of Fred... a LOT, cuz he's such a hottie! So there. See? I wuzn't thinking only about myself."

Just read Sunday's strip; God rest someone's soul, Wanders, you must be psychic!

I was actually hoping all that shaking Dad was doing was because of Parkinson's, and what Maconmemad said. But, no, I guess it's more preaching from Moy, who seems to be dealing with some major father-issues of her own, using Mary Worth as her therapist. Darn.

@Imogene, well I was way over the top with my prediction. Of course it's the DTs and Dad is an alcoholic. These story lines are only interesting if you constantly try to second guess where the story line is going IF they were to veer off the narrow predictable path. Wanders is the king of understanding this world. That's why its fun to come here and see him do his "thing". One other thing that draws you back to MW: especially in this story, every panel host a different version of the same characters. This simple story with 5 basic characters has been drawn as if there were a cast of hundreds!

Hmmm, Wanders, you may have hit the cork on the head. Alcoholic father, alcoholic stepdaughter?

Yes, the most disturbing thing about MW is how different the characters look from day to day. Gaining and losing weight and age (BJ?). Changing hair color inexplicably. And the biggest surprise of all--Mary's long, straight tresses that, all along, I thought were maturely short and wavy. I've only been a regular reader for about a year and a half, but MW has sucked me into its clutches forever.
