By Jennas look in panel two on Tuesday, she isn't going to buy a word of this story. Just giver her a glass of 2 buck chuck and she'll be fine!
Mike says, "My father was a rolling stone, where ever he laid his hat was his home"
ok here is a better answer:Mama just hung her head and said,"Papa was a rolling stone, my son.Wherever he laid his hat was his home.(And when he died) All he left us was ALONE.""Hey, Papa was a rolling stone.Wherever he laid his hat was his home.(And when he died) All he left us was ALONE."Uh!
Is it just me or did Mike get either fatter or more buff?
@Syndi -- Apparently feeling insecure about his attractiveness, Mike had one his doc friends at Mountview "inject a little botox to the lips" just before leaving for his lunch date! However, interpreting the barometer that is Jenna's off-kilter pony tail, Mike's about to get TOSSED from one of those balconies if his "family story" doesn't improve SOON!! Jenna is not amused... As Chester said, better order her the two buck chuck... pronto!! (and order me one too!)
My family? They're all dead. Didn't Mary tell you? That situation has been resolved! Oooo, wanna share some mozzarella sticks?!
Mike: "My father deserted my family when I was a young boy."Jenna: "I'm sorry to change the subject but, last July... didn't you have auburn hair?"
If Mike had a ponytail, the continuity would be a bit better. Auburn hair? So-black-it's-blue hair, looks like a doofus, looks like a stud... None of that would matter if he only had a ponytail to bring it all together. The lab coat and/or the "suitor classic" Orange suit doesn't convey any continuity.(by the way, I really miss the silhouettes in Bonnie, Bonnie Johnson's window!)
When Mike asks "Is this all right, Jenna?" he means "Is it all right if I sit in your lap until the food--or a table--comes?"
Uhm....the song goes "....all he left us was a loan." See, they had to pay off Papa's debts after he died, so all he left them was "a loan". The song is a call to revolution against late consumer capitalism. Jenna taught me to sing it whenever I wanted to reach for my credit card, just so I could stop the urge to spend. I bought it on iTunes with the new IPod I bought. Oops.
A little part of me dies every time these shape shifters morph into someone else. Then the characters have dinner and "sit" at a "table" in a manner that displaces time and space and the rest of me feels not so good also.
What to make of Jenna's expression in today's second panel? I call it skepticism, a "yeah, right" look.
1. Jenna orders the Chardonnay.2. Mike stabs Jenna with a fork.3. Second date over :(
4. Left alone, Jenna drinks Chardonnay until she feels peaceful, calm, and buzzy. :)
Mike: "Is this all right, Jenna?"Jenna: "Yes, on your knees. Now you may humbly lick my feet while we wait for our lunch."
Sad to say, but she's likely to take him back. Never underestimate the power of Mary's gentle persuasion. Face it, fellow readers. We've been set up. At least we'll be put out of our misery soon. Cue the next absurdly attenuated plotline.
