Mary Worth 968

This wonderful Yiddish expression, which I first heard in Fiddler on the Roof, is generally used when someone says something nice, and someone else wants to use it almost as a prayer. You: "Wanders, one day your blog will make you millions of dollars." Wanders: "From your lips to God's ears."

It does not -- and this is important -- it does not mean that if you eat cookies, God gets one too. I think the expression Wilbur is thinking of is, "A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips."

So much face touching! Make it stop!

What I can't figure out - are we MEANT to be equating Wilbur's compulsive eating with Dawn's compulsive tweeting? If so, I'd have to give props to Moy. But if his reaching for the box of cookies just fits the character sketch established for him ("schlubby, tubby, fond of sandwiches and cookies") then I'm a lot less impressed.

Here I was thinking God's Ears was the kind of cookies in the box, or maybe it was a typo and should have been Dog's Ears. oo

WV: ingst
Another typo, angst: that feeling of dread, anxiety, or anguish we're all experiencing as we continue to follow this story.

How classy--Wilbur takes out three cookies from the box and puts them on a little plate. Now I feel like a real slob for having the box of chocolate Teddy Grahams sitting here on my desk.

Three cookies on a little plate, along with a glass of milk. Good thought but 10 months too early!

The rest of the box goes out to the living room with Wilbur.

Will that man EVER stop eating?! I feel like a role model for Weight Watchers after reading this strip!

I really don't get his reference to the 'Dawn's lips - God's ear' thing - what is he hoping God will do? Or is that just a phrase that Moy has been just dying to use, and she figured that now was as good a time as any.

Um, is Dawn getting ready to stick her finger down her throat? Is that where this arc is headed? Maybe she's been boning up on one of those pro-bulimia websites.

not even prince dresses in purple as much as dawn does .wilber should just get out of the house more maybe he can be a guest on man vs food

If moy handles Dawn's bulimia problem as well as she did Jill's drinking problem, well...

I don't think there have been any medical studies linking excessive Internet use with anorexia. So what is Moy implying here, exactly?

Hey, let's have Mary facilitate an intervention! That worked so well for Aldo!

@truxtrudy - Facebook has been linked to low body image in young girls, however I don't think the study included women of college age.

Just had an OMG moment. Am watching the red carpet interviews for the Oscars. Out of a limo comes Helen Mirren - and she has MARY WORTH HAIR. Does anyone else agree?

So Wilbur thinks Dawn is just growing up? Am I wrong in thinking that she must be about 30 by now?

Is She Being Bullied on Facebook by all the other 30 year old girls?
OMG, Dawn is like so fat she makes her dad look thin!!

I don't even care what the point is any more. I'm just so sick of seeing Wilbur in this feeding frenzy. I can't imagine what it would be like for Dawn to have to watch that.

She's probably really spending her time online doing research, hoping against hope to find evidence that she was adopted.

What-is-going-on????

Our Sunday strip has nothing to do with what is "going-on" with our "Mary Worth and me web-log-thingy". Could not be more confused at this point.

In today's strip (2/28) is Wilbur (eating again/still) at the Diner from Seinfeld?

Wilbur and Iris are enjoying the reduced-price lunch at the senior center, where they can have mayo-on-white-bread sandwiches and milk for only 25 cents.

Maybe Wilbur will arrive at home (assuming he can find his condo, which floats from the first to the third floor randomly) to find Dawn has OD'ed on the diet pills he hid in the medicine cabinet, in her attempt to stay up 24/7 to keep up with her online interests.

I'm confused! Wilbur says something about how Dawn is ''growing up''- Isn't she supposed to be in her mid-late 20's? He's acting like she's 14-15! Just how old is Dawn supposed to be? Wasn't she dating & involved in a love triangle with Drew- Jeff's adult, doctor son, almost FOUR years ago?

NO way!! THAT...is...NOT...Iris!!! The only way that could be Iris is if she's spent all last year inpatient at the Santa Royale Plastic Surgery center and had daily surgical procedures by a competent doctor! And we KNOW there are no competent doctors in SR!

OK, I just found a strip from July 11, 2007- and Wilbur states that Dawn is 20 years old! What is going on?

I first heard the phrase in Catholic school, from nuns.
