Mary Worth 970

How'd that work out for him, Iris? As many readers pointed out yesterday, Tommy ended up mopping floors in prison for selling marijuana and using drug related words like "leaf" and "gram." Perhaps Tommy wouldn't have strayed so far if you had meddled just a bit more in your son's life.

I found this early MW&M post that referenced Wilbur's first encounter with Iris in 2004:

Good times.

That's Wilbur's second burger. We saw him finish the first one yesterday.

Not that massive overeating is anything new to Wilbur. You'd just think he'd want to look more appealing while taking bad advice from a former flame.

Forget the sheer ingested volume, Wilbur's burger like apparition is a shade of green not found in nature.

Are we even sure that's a burger? You know, if you kind of squint at it and look at it from the right angle, it could be some kind of squushy green insidious gel in some kind of brown outer wrapper. Alien food, perhaps...

Clearly, Wilbur is eating a veggie burger. A guy's gotta pretend to be healthy when lunching with a former love interest, yes?

BUT, come on, Moy! How can you compare selling drugs and serving time with spending a little too much time online? Are you THAT starved for a story? "Let me tell you something ..."

As Wilbur has had his dna spliced
with that of a humpback whale ,
during an alien abduction episode ,
that can only be a krill burger he is consuming.

Wilbur is repulsive! Today, we're forced to watch him suck the green stuff out of a roll, and in the second panel, three strands of greasy black hair representing a comb-over threaten to jump right out of the strip and onto the desks or into the lunches of our real world.

I'm convinced that Wilbur is some form of aversion therapy for those of us who are still using the interwebs.

Do check out the link Wanders posted! Weirdness galore.

ok, so is Dawn and her "all-things-online" obsession going to lead to her being incarcerated!?
I mean, it's not like she's on the SR City Fan website meeting up with Ted Confey types or drug cartel members!! She isn't making outrageous purchases from enormoushop or Maisy's websites.
Most likely Dawn is just checking KK tweets and all the latest celebrity gossip.
(I think Moy is still unpacking her bags from Bora Bora and hasn't figured out where to take this storyline!)

Thanks for the blast from the past, Wanders! I noticed in the top strip how Mary says "the younger Dr. Cory". Something about that just struck me as odd but I can't really put my finger on it. I mean, is that something anyone would really say? Wouldn't you just say "This is Drew, Jeff's son."
And the look on Wilbur's face in the Wilbur strip breaks my heart for reasons I won't understand for years.

Graham, I think you've nailed it.

Actually, Graham, could it be a Kelkburger?

I'm starting to get really uncomfortable with Wilbur being shown stuffing his face every time we see him. Obviously this is far too overt to be a subliminal message, but I can't understand why his overeating doesn't seem to be working its way into any storyline. Are we just supposed to think "oh yeah, Wilbur, he's the one who eats a lot" and move on? Are we supposed to feel sorry for him? Are we supposed to anticipate a storyline about his eating or an intervention from a doctor? (There are plenty of those around, though none of them seems to actually practice medicine.) I just find it all a little odd.

I do think Wilbur's overeating of ham sandwiches, cookies, and green glop burgers is in deliberate contrast to Dawn refusing meals and probably living off of diet soda.

I don't think we can go anywhere good with this. It's certainly not doing anything for my appetite..

@birdie - especially when we last saw Dawn, on Sunday, she was staring at herself in the mirror (after a face-touching interlude), with a finger seemingly headed for her throat.

I was happy to see the brief return of chin napkin yesterday. The time off has done him good - he looked great.
