I, too, remember how Drew emotionally destroyed Vera and ol' What's-Her-Name. But, Mary's right! It doesn't matter! Who cares? La-di-dah. Fiddle-dee-dee. Mistakes are how you grow. And Jeff, you are hilarious with your little joke: Drew's really made some whopper mistakes -- so he's grown an extra lot. Ha ha ha ha!
I'm glad to be back after taking the kids up to Boston to watch my brother, David, run in the Boston Marathon ( 3:04:03 ), so I'm very proud of him. It was a fun trip. On the way home, I punched in "Avoid Tolls" into the GPS and it routed us through Scranton, Penn., where we had dinner at the Steamtown Mall.

Drew's getting pretty risqué with those double entendres, if you ask me.
But, dude. Dinner in a mall?
You only visit Santa Royale, you know.
I think that dinner in a mall is a lovely idea! Afterwards, you can stroll by a body of water and feel buzzy! What wonderful ideas we learn of from this strip.
Are Jeff and Mary on some kind of rotating platform? How can we see them in profile through the window, but then find them sitting in very different places inside? And I wish Jeff would just sit up straight and wipe that smirk off his face already, it makes me wonder what the heck is in his coffee cup.
Welcome back, Wanders - you shouldn't take such prolonged breaks! You see how we just glom on to the last post while you're away.
"By his own hand..."? I hope Dr. Drew isn't a surgeon.
You passed up commenting on Mary Worth just to see some relative run in some footrace?
Dunno, I wouldn't have done that. A couple of recent strips were so, so classic in their brilliance of plot and majesty of art work that I ran right over here to see what you had written about them.
And you weren't here. You were in...Boston.
And while Liza Colby has been on the world's most tedious date, ABC canceled All My Children.
Re: Jeff's smirk, yeah I thought he looked like Eddie Haskell there.
Re: The Steamtown Mall: Did you run into Kelly Kapoor shopping on her lunch break?
Not to nitpick here, but is Jeff really justified in saying that Drew is "dating again"? As far as I can tell (the part I was awake for), Drew went back to Mountview Hospital for one day, where Liza with a Z clapped eyes on him, asked him to coffee that day, blew off her shift, and asked him to dinner that night (and "didn't take no for an answer"). Then the three of them (Drew, Liza, and her thought bubble) sat at the restaurant table and made small talk and meaningful asides. ALL ON THE SAME DAY. Cut to Jeff, who says he's "dating again"? I feel like I'm missing something.
I maintain perspective on this strip
by replacing Drew Corey with Drew Carey.
I wonder how Liza would like doing her shift in Peace Village.
Yes, Punky, this strip moves a little too fast sometimes. Blink and you miss something, like this sudden background appearance of Jill Black looking quite pleased as Vera broke up with Drew two years ago:

Maybe Drew has returned to playing the field. Surely he's already met Jill in Administration(he seems attracted to long-haired blondes). This storyline could yet make for some exciting cat fighting, face-slapping action.
Wanders, I can't say how proud I am that you chose MY hometown in which to avoid tolls. I hope you had a chance to admire the historic trains in the railyard adjacent.
Maybe Dr Drew is dating a nurse again. Maybe that nurse though isn't Nurse Lizzzza (with a Z) "I Won't take no for an answer" (in a career rut at age 22) "living in a new apartment" Colby?!
Won't she be disappointed.
I'm afraid this has gotten so bad, it's not even fun to mock anymore.
Wanders, did you run into B?B?J? at the mall?
Mary's so good at rationalizing everything, it's just amazing. I mean, a horrible "mistake" is merely a chance to grow.
(Kinda' like all the "growing" Mary's done since Aldo...um, unfortunately drove off the cliff, ya) Now THAT was a big "mistake" wasn't it, Mary!?
OMG! I thought my GPS might have an "Avoid Trolls" setting too. I ran right to my car to check it out - but no such luck. I must have an older model. Or maybe I should have my eyes checked!
Wanders, I initially read your remark about the GPS as having typed in "Avoid Trolls," and assumed you took a route that didn't cross any bridges. I'm not sure that's an actual feature on a standard GPS, but it should be!
