What's really going badly for Drew right now is all of the smoke pouring out of the rear of his car. LiZa is so whacko that she hardly counts any more...
Prediction: When Drew gets home, Liza will either be waiting there for him, or she'll have called his house phone so many times that the answering machine burst into flames and burned down the entire building.
I think Drew is going to be so distracted that he gets into an accident. He'll end up at the hospital and LiZa will be his nurse. Unfortunately, she hasn't acted as a nurse in so long that she has completely forgotten how, and he'll nearly die from neglect.
Liza will riddled with remorse until she talks to Mary. (Remember Mary? This strip is about her.) Mary will help her turn her remorse into action and she'll go off to Vietnam to ignore patients there.
Mary will have lots of trite sayings about repentance which she'll share with Dr. Jeff and we'll move on to another story.
Let's don't loose focus on the real culprit in this whole affair. Texting is the evil "new" technology that has brought this fiasco about! Let's pray Drew dosen't try to read, while driving, one of the 600texts I'm sure Liza is cranking out like made back in her apartment.
I think there was a mistake with the panel that Wanders posted. "That went badly" should be a speech balloon and there should be a thought balloon that says "VROOOM! VROOOM!"
The lack of attention to detail continuity in MW is killing me. But I am loving this storyline. LiZa "needs time to absorb" that Drew broke up with her? I know why none of his relationships work. He is as stupid as a box of rocks.
Is Drew consoling himself by doing burnouts on the freeway? A few donuts in the carpark, perhaps? The smoke belching out of his rear exhaust would indicate so.
I'm going to side with Birdie on what happens next. LiZa will be texting him so many times that he'll try in vain to turn his phone off in disgust and get into an accident. He'll get to the hospital and LiZa will be his nurse. She will ignore all the patients in favor of Dr. Drew. It will be here that Mary makes her debut to the strip -- when was the last time she was in it??!?! -- and the two ladies will have a heart to heart. Mary will tell a story about love and obsession -- of course, it will take two weeks for Mary to actually GET to the story. Oh, I can't handle the suspense. Tuesday, you can't come quick enough!!!
When did Santa Royale become Metropolis? Drew's not a self-centered doctor after all. Racing down the highway in his souped-up supermobile -- he's BATMAN! (Maybe Jeff is really Arthur the Butler, and Mary is Batman's doting aunt.)
James in ND: what a good question you raise. The last time we saw Mary was on April 21 - when she was sipping a beverage with Jeff and his oversized man-hands, and Jeff was saying how he hopes Drew "finds happiness with this girl." I for one actually appreciate how Mary has been kept out of this story arc, so that it could unfold "naturally."
And I had a thought - did Joe Giella throw that smallish horse into yesterday's strip for... us???
What? Drew is surprised to see LiZa at the hospital? Where they both work? Where she will have every opportunity to stalk him in person as well as by text? Good job dumping her, Dr. Genius.
I can't help noticing that Drew and LiZa both look insanely different in each panel today. Maybe they are trying out some post-breakup disguises and that's why he didn't recognize her.
"In fact, I have something to offer you," LiZa said. "It's an introduction to my NEW boyfriend. He's a bald bespectacled gent, who's pacing around in the background pretending to read lab reports while waiting for his introduction to you. Guess where we're going this weekend? Boondock Lake! Did I mention he's a doctor? And he loves to text!"
"my offer for you", says LiZa is: "if you give me 50thousand dollars, I promise not to send you hundreds of texts 'all along the same lines' and I promise not to tell everyone you're obsessed with Men's Fitness mags."

I was just thinking that "badly" would be Liza rising up from the back seat with a knife in panel two.

Drew lets the windshield do the thinking for him.
Maybe that's not exhaust coming from the car...maybe it's Liza's feet dragging while she holds on to the bumper.

Yah, I'm sure all LiZa needs is "time" for the news to sink in. That's the ticket. Ha!
Drew's tie is askew again. Did some "funny business" take place before he left LiZa?

When you get home, Drew, before you go inside, check your place for signs of break-in.

Strange, but I'm actually enjoying this plot line. The cliff-hangers are fabulous.
It just keeps coming on the 17th too!

She's also changed her name to Lisa...that may be the cause of Drew's surprise.
What could she be wanting to offer? Unlimited texting? Her smallish horse? A bedpan from room 213?
I seriously don't believe that Dr. Drew and LiZa are at the hospital. I mean, where are the arrows????
But if they are -- they really genuinely are -- at the hospital, let's hope Mary comes by with her book wagon!

No arrows, but look! It's a giant wall-mounted 8-track tape player! Of course this is Mountview Hospital!
