Mary Worth 1,033

Looks like it's time for Drew to play a little "Doctor" -- A doctor who explains things. Like, why Liza's head is suddenly growing out of his shoulder?

Clearly, Liza has taken her stalking efforts a little too far. But at least this way, Drew will have lots of opportunities to explain in detail why they have broken up.

On top of the delightful, over the top clueless-ness of Drew, an alleged medical doctor and adult human being who can't figure out who to break up with someone, much less that the person he's trying to break up with is nuts - we also have the most awesome artwork to ever grace Mary Worth in panel 2. I have a feeling Ol' Joe accidentally imbibed something hallucinogenic before taking pen in hand to draw today's strip.

@Karen - It is indeed a work of art, but not quite the masterpiece that the wordless panel in the Shootout at Santaroymart was. I think that's what it was called. Check out

That I invested 5 minutes in finding this link shows just how much I want to delay Saturday morning yardwork.

Oh my. This is truly from the pantheon of comics. It's pretty obvious someone has a bit too much Marvel/StanLee/movietime comic envy going on!

The sad thing is, this will probably work, and the storyline will end. And no, if they were in denial, they would not want that, Jeff! What kind of doctor are you?

ELVIS IS ALIVE! He successfully faked his own death, and relocated to San Royale with a new identity.

Upon gazing at this panel, I immediately flashed to Rosie Greer and Ray Milland.

I am afraid that Drew will bungle his attempt to 'reason' with Lizzzza so badly that he is destined to wake up married to her.

@Steven W4922, 10:50 AM- LOL! My mind immediately thought Ray Milland/Rosie Greer, too! I'm starting to wonder if Mary Worth is intentionally campy!

Dr. Drew bears an uncanny resemblence to a young James Darren.

I'm seeing the last panel as LiZa controlling a giant Drew puppet on her left hand.

Drink, puppet!
Speak, puppet!
Go to dinner with Liza, puppet!

@Anon 6:40:James Darren in Time Tunnel. That's it! Drew is going to travel back in time...or to Vietnam. Or both.
(Code word--reigglym? Is this a reference to my gym regimen? Leave me alone! I don't go on the weekend.)

Is that Dr. Drew, or Nicholas Cage?

@ tuffenuff: totally with you on Nicholas Cage in panel two--noticed that while reading MW to the kids tonight.

The Nick Cage look is all the more impressive considering he looks like ESPN NFL draft "guru" Mel Kiper Jr. in the first panel.

why is Drew being rather deceptive and vague with his dad about this subject? Why not just SAY, "you know that nurse chick I dated twice, Dad? Well she's crazy as a loon and I keep trying to break up with her, but she's not accepting it!!"
Maybe, I dunno-- is it because in panel one Jeff looks like he's had a freakin' lobotomy and Drew doesn't want to confuse him?? I know I'm confused.
