Genius! Genius! Don't you wish all of your problems worked out this well? But, alas, life often proves to be far more complex than a Mary Worth plot. Pity really.
This is SUCH a letdown. One little chat with Mary, and poof! all of our hopes and dreams for a knock-down, drag-out with Drew or an alcoholic stupor with Jill have gone out the window.
And who is that man leaning on LiZa's arm while he's on his cell phone?
Love that "you go, girl!" fist from Mary! But: when LiZa says "Despite what happened" here, is she referring to her failed nursing career or her going gaga ("Text Me, LVR") over Drew? Because all we've seen for the past three full months is the latter, and now this one cup of coffee with Mary makes it all about her career? I feel cheated, frankly. Talk about a tidy wrapup. It's clearly only a few more days until we're back on the couch with Mary and Jeff, as they self-satisfiedly sip hot beverages out of oddly huge and misshapen mugs, with confusing scenery changes whizzing about behind them.
I'm losing track as to the dysfunctions on parade here. LiZa has become a cipher, a non-person, and Mary has gone from helpful wannabee to gross enabler.
I miss the strip for three days, and all of my dreams of an explosive finish are shattered. THIS is Moy's idea of Mary fixing a stalker? Well, I guess stalkers ARE persistent and creative.
Punky, I was thinking it was more of a "Go get 'em, tiger" fist, but I found it hilarious nonetheless.
Either this is a very big letdown for what could have been an interesting storyline that could have went on for months (wait....) or LiZa is a good actress. Maybe she can see what Mary Worth is doing, and she's just putting on the act, dramatic face touching and all, to get MW off her back.
Ah yes, the perfect wrap up! Nailed it again, Mary! One (albeit bottomless) cup of joe and Liza is "excited for the future FOR THE FIRST TIME!" The woman is a miracle worker!
I've just ended each of my sentences with an exclamation mark! And I'm proud of it!
I wonder if LiZa will meet any hot guys at the sales training program? I also wonder what the next story will be about. We haven't heard from Toby in a while! Maybe Ian gets busted tweeting inappropriate things to some of his students, and the whole thing turns out to be a big misunderstanding, caused by Toby's ignorance and fear about computers?
Considering her success in "closing"on her apartment, Liza may want to get into apartment sales. No matter what she does, those in the nursing profession will applaud her change in careers.
"...it's worth making that leap" is what Liza said yesterday. I'm still holding out hope that Dr. Bailey lives in either a high-rise or in a cliff-clinging mini-mansion with a deck hanging invitingly over Santa Royale Baye. C'mon, Liza, show Dr. Drew what he's done!
I know sales CAN be lucrative, but nurses make around $45/hr! LiZa is just dumb enough to throw it all away to sell something really silly door-to-door. Like colorful shoestrings for bowling shoes or something. And then she'll wonder why she can't pay her rent.
James in NoDak and Punky are right! Mary is swinging her fist as if to say, "Go get 'em, Tiger! You go girl! You can do anything you set your mind to, Sparky!"
OK, like StevenW pointed out, maybe not President of the United States, but Secretary of State is well within your reach! You go, Girl Tiger!
I, too, interpreted Mary's gesture as "Go get 'em, Tiger!" Then I looked at the angle of the arm and realized it doesn't look like it's attached to Mary's body. Then I got kind of creeped out by the whole thing and wondered where they got a disembodied arm that matched Mary's outfit.
Hmm...the way I saw it, Mary and LiZa were attempting a triumphant fist bump. Sadly, no one in Santa Royale has been able to master this move, and this pair is no exception. Someone always gets hurt.

Hey...maybe Mary can fix it so Liza can sell stuff to that lady who was the compulsive shopper!
Sunday, Mary tackles the national deficit and the NBA contract negotiations.
Is there anything this woman can't do, besides mind her own business?

Sale training programs...a room full of LiZa's led by an even bigger LiZa, ringing cowbells and practicing the Sullivan nod.
If LiZa brushes up on her sales techniques, maybe she can close the deal with Drew.
Panel 3: Mary starts to sing "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" while Liza kneels adoringly at her feet.
Wow! What a brilliant wrap up to another scintillating plot from Karen Moy!! I'll bet noone saw this coming.

If LiZa hurries, she can "seriously consider exploring possibilities in sales" and still get back before her break ends.

LiZa's next text to Drew:
"Surprz Lover I'm going into sales! C U 2nite at your place to celebrate."

....Mary says with a closed fist as Liza rubs her now sore jaw.....

Then I gave up a had a salmon square.
Mary (are you THE Mary?), your post was hilarious!
In the last panel Nasa's hand seems to be creeping up on its own, heading for some face-touching.
Mary is sure doing a lot of index-finger-pointing lately.
wv: "exulal" Must be a special sort of Santa Royale medication that makes one feel exultant after taking it.

Why do I have the sinking feeling that the strips for the next week or so will basically be the same thing:
Mary convinces LiZa even further that sales are her forte.
LiZa touches her face.
A creepy man that fell in the grape jam again walks by.
LiZa again admits this is the first time she's looking forward to the future.
Gag. My word was "remptid," which may be the drug that MW slipped in LiZa's Brim so she can bend her to her own will.
