Mary Worth 1,060

Mary Worth and Me salutes Joe Giella for the progressive cultural diversity he has included in today's strip by incorporating a woman of color as a background extra working as a scheduling assistant in the hospital. Before you know it, people of color will be moving into Charterstone. Keep up the great work, Joe.

I love the second panel! 'This new step may be the right thing for her -as long as she doesn't try to use some newfangled reading device and sticks with these trusty old fashioned books!'

I myself am more than a *bit* surprised by the decidedly feminine direction Drew's face is taking! But I can't wait for LiZa to come skipping home from her first day of school to announce that "sales" has been changed to "marketing" and it's a whole lot more involved than in her daddy's day. She may have to sell that apartment she closed on to pay the tuition.

Is Mary something of a kleptomaniac? She looks like she's trying to smuggle those books out of the hospital under her jacket.

I pointed out the African-American person in yesterday's column. I think it's a good sign of things to come.

Why, Moy might include a Jewish person, an Asian person, a Hispanic person, etc in the strip. Not as main characters, of course, but as "background".

How can a background extra be in the foreground? One wonders as one, perhaps, Wanders?

We've seen plenty of people of color in recent years. Granted, that color is usually blue.

But she's not wearing orange, thus indicating that she's really not part of things.

How heavy are those books? Mary keeps switching hands to hold them.

So the moral of the story is that stalkers are just salespeople who haven't yet found their true calling?

I love how Dr Drew is doing the "sprinkler" in panel 1 Thursday.

And no Drew, we have no idea why anyone would want to stalk you either.

What an insult to sales people everywhere.

Someone should put LiZa on the case to find Ritchie's killer, being that she's so persistent and all...

Vicki, what a brilliant idea! LiZa would be a great vigilante, especially with no family to stand in her way. She'd surely find Richie's killer.
