Mary Worth 1,062

A beautiful choice of words, Dr. Cory. I'm sure the guy on the gurney is thrilled to hear a doctor say how great it is to turn off the switch.

What a relief! The inane plot and endless story blather was, pardon the expression, terminal, to the point that I wasn't sure I could feel anymore.

Then the goofy artwork for faces made me realize I could still laugh! It's a funny, buzzy feeling!

Someone said earlier this week that Drew and Mary would rehash the story for a week. I do believe that is an accurate assessment.
He should be glad she is not bothering him anymore. It seems to me that he misses her now.

Finally... the patient who requested those two original edition Hardy Boys books is going to get them! Hurry, Mary, on your errand of mercy!

This is so wrong! Mary has always dispensed advice with the best of intentions. Is this the first time that she's been gleeful about manipulating someone? Moy has turned our Mary into an enabling, malevolent puppetmaster.

Am I overreacting here?

How odd/funny Imogene--I actually started reading my boys Hardy Boys #54 before nap time today (theirs, not mine). I got it on my 6th birthday according to the note on the binding.

They keep laughing at all the references to their "stout" friend Chet....

Peggy - you're not over-reacting. I had the exact same reaction. Why would Mary hide her meddl....er, talk with Liza from Drew? Why would she giggle about it to herself? Perhaps she IS a force for evil....

And for a storyline that is supposed to be realistic, I have to once again state how irritating and unbelievable it is that several weeks would go by and Liza's constant texting "HI LVR" and "yoo-hoo, I have Hombres tickets!' would just cease, and Liza would not have said a word to Drew about it. (I also hate how irritated I am by this - get a grip, Punky!)

Steeling myself for one last enormous recap in Sunday's strip, where absolutely nothing will happen.

I completely agree, Peggy and Punky...I have never wanted to smack Mary upside her old fart head, but I do today. She just looks so gleeful...I can imagine her yelling, "Wheeeeeeeeeeee!" as she rides around the Piggly Wiggly in an amigo.

Mary's evil, silly giggling to herself makes me wonder...hmmm...has anyone actually SEEN LiZa in a few days???

Tee-hee, that Mary is SO clever and helpful. Excuse me while I go be sick.

Someone needs to put that "I spoke to her" panel on a T-shirt. That's quintessential Mary Worth.

Also, why is Drew doing a Gollum pose in the next to last panel?

Oh, Mary! Pride cometh before a fall!

Sunday's cavalcade of chin-touching deserves much discussion (as does Mary's smug "I spoke to her" complete with thumb-jerking back toward herself), but I caught another interesting detail to comment on. Look how Dr. Drew's stethoscope switches sides from yesterday's to today's. Is that a stealth message to other Mountview Hospital doctors? Fellow devotees of Men's Fitness magazine, perhaps? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Since when was Mary Worth played by Joe Pesce?

I hope that Mountview Hospital keeps a lot of hand sanitizer around, what with all that chin-touching. And do you see Mary's twin sister in Sunday's last panel?

Oh, Sunday's strip is a classic. Besides the usual rehash, we have Mary's self-congratulatory finger-pointing, Drew's chin-touching with change of hands (left/right/left), and the last panel, where Mary's sister has been brought in from retirement to train the new switchboard operator. Also in the last panel, it looks like the lobby has been repainted and all the arrows are gone, so that couple in the corner has to consult maps to get around.
